Benchmade Mini Griptilian CPM-S30V Folding Knife - Black Grivory

Light and durable folder designed for everyday use (EDC), both for household tasks and outdoor activities. The blade is made of high-quality CPM-S30V stainless steel. The handle scales are made of Grivory material.

CPM-S30V stainless steel, satin finish

The drop-point blade is 74 mm long and 2.5 mm wide. It’s made of high-quality CPM-S30V stainless steel, produced using powder metallurgy technology. It is hardened to 58-60 HRC and features high corrosion resistance, good edge retention, easier sharpening, and chip resistance. The blade is finished with satinizing, providing a semi-matte effect. This coating reduces unwanted glare in some cases.

Grivory material scales

The handle comprises a steel framework with Grivory material scales with a textured surface for secure grip screwed onto it. At the end of the ergonomically shaped handle is a large hole for a safety lanyard or keychain.

double-sided thumb stud, Axis Lock

The blade is opened using a double-sided thumb stud. The sliding locking mechanism Axis Lock, known for its durability and resistance to heavy loads, secures the tool from closing and accidental opening during transport.

spring-loaded mini deep carry clip

The knife is equipped with a spring-loaded clip, allowing it to be comfortably carried by attaching to a belt or pocket edge. The clip is reversible and can be mounted in tip-up position, suitable for both right- and left-handed users.

Benchmade Knife Company is an American brand founded in 1988 by Les de Asis in Oregon, with roots dating back to the 1970s when it operated as Bali-Song. The company became famous for producing folding and combat knives, and its butterfly logo refers to the first balisong models, which were awarded the title of Knife of the Year in 1979. Today, Benchmade manufactures knives in three lines: Blue Class, Black Class, and Gold Class, using modern powder steels such as S30V, M390, and CPM-20CV, and the patented Axis Lock, valued for its reliability and smooth operation. Among the brand's icons are the Griptilian, Bugout, 940 Osborne, Infidel, and Bushcrafter models, and the company regularly collaborates with renowned knifemakers such as Mel Pardue, Warren Osborne, and Ernest Emerson. Benchmade was the first knife manufacturer in the US to implement fully automated CNC production, achieving unprecedented precision and repeatability in the industry.

CPM S30V feature
CPM S30V
CPM S30V is a powder stainless steel developed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with knifemaker Chris Reeve. It is distinguished by its precisely selected formula, containing carbon, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. The carbon content is approximately 1.45%, which ensures high hardness and long-lasting sharpness. Chromium (approximately 14%) is responsible for very good corrosion resistance, which makes S30V steel suitable for use in various, even difficult environments. Additions of molybdenum (approximately 2%) and vanadium (approximately 4%) increase the steel's wear resistance and improve its strength. As a result, CPM S30V provides an optimal balance between hardness, strength, and corrosion resistance, making it an ideal choice for the production of high-quality knives. After heat treatment, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, which is crucial for maintaining a sharp edge and resistance to deformation under stress.
Axis-Lock feature
Axis-Lock
Axis-Lock is a folding knife locking mechanism patented by Bill McHenry and Jason Williams, popularized and licensed by Benchmade. A spring steel bar (crossbar) slides transversely between the scales and fits into a recess on the back of the blade, firmly locking it in the open position. The mechanism works thanks to two omega springs that press the bar into the lock, ensuring smooth, two-handed operation and no play. To close the knife, simply slide the bar toward the rear of the handle and release the catch, allowing you to safely fold the blade without risking contact between your fingers and the blade.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Grivory feature
Grivory
Grivory is a modern glass fiber reinforced polyamide used in knife handles. It is characterized by high resistance to impact, abrasion, and chemicals, as well as stability in temperature fluctuations and contact with moisture. It retains its dimensional stability even with intensive use, making it a practical solution for EDC knives and outdoor models. Grivory handles are sturdy, lightweight, and comfortable to use, making the material popular among manufacturers who value reliability and modernity.

Small version of the legendary classic. The larger version is, in my opinion, the best large folding knife, while this one is the best small folding knife I've ever had.

I have been carrying it as EDC for 2 months. Excellent quality, the lock is perfect for fidgeting, carries very well in the pocket, and superb steel. It's worth having a diamond sharpener.
