Benchmade Redoubt Combo CPM-D2 Folding Knife - Black

A folding knife crafted for daily carry (EDC), featuring a partially serrated blade with a Drop-Point shape. Manufactured from CPM-D2 tool steel and hardened to 60-62 HRC, the blade is further enhanced with a Cerakote coating for superior corrosion resistance. Effortless one-handed deployment is achieved through a double-sided thumb stud. Secure blade lockup in the open position is provided by the reliable Axis Lock mechanism. Ergonomic handle scales, made from lightweight Grivory polymer, ensure a comfortable and durable grip.

CPM-D2 tool steel

Crafted from CPM-D2 steel, the blade delivers outstanding abrasion resistance and extended edge retention. High levels of carbon and chromium provide excellent wear resistance. Developed through the powder metallurgy process (CPM), the steel features a uniform, fine carbide structure that enhances toughness, minimizes the risk of chipping or cracking, and allows for easier sharpening compared to conventional D2 or other steels of similar hardness.

Drop-Point blade, flat grind, Cerakote coating

The drop-point blade is crafted to enhance tip durability, making it ideal for outdoor and EDC applications that demand robust piercing capability coupled with superior blade control.

The Redoubt model is equipped with a partially serrated blade and a flat grind (Flat Grind) for greater resistance to wear and chipping. A highly scratch-resistant Black Cerakote coating is applied to the blade, delivering extra protection against corrosion and minimizing glare.

Contoured scales, non-slip texture

Ergonomically shaped handle scales crafted from lightweight Grivory polymer offer reliable durability. Enhanced with a non-slip texture and augmented by jimping in the finger-rest zone, the handle ensures a secure grip, minimizing the risk of your hand slipping during knife use.

A springy, steel clip in the tip-up carry position guarantees comfortable everyday portability, enabling secure attachment to your belt or pocket edge. The clip is positioned on the right side. An integrated hole at the end of the handle accommodates a cord or lanyard for added utility.

Axis-lock mechanism, copper washers

User protection is guaranteed by the reliable Axis-Lock system, which offers exceptional resistance to mechanical stresses. Enhanced-thickness copper washers contribute to outstanding structural strength and longevity, ensuring maximum safety and stability even during demanding tasks.

Benchmade Knife Company is an American brand founded in 1988 by Les de Asis in Oregon, with roots dating back to the 1970s when it operated as Bali-Song. The company became famous for producing folding and combat knives, and its butterfly logo refers to the first balisong models, which were awarded the title of Knife of the Year in 1979. Today, Benchmade manufactures knives in three lines: Blue Class, Black Class, and Gold Class, using modern powder steels such as S30V, M390, and CPM-20CV, and the patented Axis Lock, valued for its reliability and smooth operation. Among the brand's icons are the Griptilian, Bugout, 940 Osborne, Infidel, and Bushcrafter models, and the company regularly collaborates with renowned knifemakers such as Mel Pardue, Warren Osborne, and Ernest Emerson. Benchmade was the first knife manufacturer in the US to implement fully automated CNC production, achieving unprecedented precision and repeatability in the industry.

Axis-Lock feature
Axis-Lock
Axis-Lock is a folding knife locking mechanism patented by Bill McHenry and Jason Williams, popularized and licensed by Benchmade. A spring steel bar (crossbar) slides transversely between the scales and fits into a recess on the back of the blade, firmly locking it in the open position. The mechanism works thanks to two omega springs that press the bar into the lock, ensuring smooth, two-handed operation and no play. To close the knife, simply slide the bar toward the rear of the handle and release the catch, allowing you to safely fold the blade without risking contact between your fingers and the blade.
Cerakote feature
Cerakote
Cerakote is an advanced ceramic-polymer coating applied to knife blades to increase their durability and give them a distinctive appearance. It forms a thin, opaque layer that does not alter the geometry or balance of the blade, while ensuring high durability. Its matte, non-reflective finish, available in a variety of colors, makes it a popular choice for tactical and outdoor knives. The coating is resistant to impact, chipping, and abrasion, effectively protecting the steel in demanding conditions. In corrosion tests (Salt Spray ASTM B-117), it retains its properties for thousands of hours, protecting the blade from rust and oxidation. It is also resistant to chemicals, including cleaning agents and solvents.
Grivory feature
Grivory
Grivory is a modern glass fiber reinforced polyamide used in knife handles. It is characterized by high resistance to impact, abrasion, and chemicals, as well as stability in temperature fluctuations and contact with moisture. It retains its dimensional stability even with intensive use, making it a practical solution for EDC knives and outdoor models. Grivory handles are sturdy, lightweight, and comfortable to use, making the material popular among manufacturers who value reliability and modernity.
CPM-D2 feature
CPM-D2
CPM-D2 is a high-carbon tool steel produced using the powder metallurgy method (Crucible Particle Metallurgy). It is an improved version of classic D2 steel, characterized by a much finer and more homogeneous carbide structure, which translates into higher impact resistance and easier sharpening. The steel achieves a hardness of 58-62 HRC, offering high resistance to abrasion and aggressive cutting. Thanks to its high carbon and chromium content, it provides very good cutting edge retention, while the powder technology eliminates the brittleness typical of standard tool steels. Although it is classified as semi-stainless steel, its anti-corrosion properties are sufficient for everyday use.
