Another book I often return to. The book is pleasant to read, very inspiring and encourages trying out and experimenting. Lots of valuable information, which sometimes saves you from trouble. Recommended for self-education.

A nice read describing the "ancient" realities of camping. Some of the knowledge is still current. Pleasant to read. An ideal book for the evening. You can compare with modern techniques and equipment.

I'm amazed at how much I perceive things the same way as the author... Despite its instructional nature, the book is easy and smooth to read. A valuable source of information, ideas and inspiration.

Great book, lots of tips and advice. Written in accessible language. I recommend it.

Although it describes old times and old gear solutions, the book is very interesting. Many of the ideas are still relevant – I've decided to use some in my own gear after a few modifications. The equipment catalogs add atmosphere to the story, good tables describing resource needs for specific durations, plus recipes for simple camp meals. I recommend.

A very pleasant book. Although some of the information is rather archaic, you can still get a lot out of it. Purchased along with the Ka-Bar Becker Kephart BK62 (18173) SP knife.

I'll allow myself to quote (what I consider an adequate) opinion about Kephart's second book: Like every book from the "Old, Wonderful World," this one is simply fantastic. It takes us on a journey to distant, beautiful times, into the heart of dangerous, wild nature. It shows the vast knowledge of people living close to it and can easily serve as a handbook for today's fans of bushcraft and survival. An absolute must-have!

A connoisseur's book! Great for summer evenings. I recommend it.
