Although this is not the most comfortable knife I own—the rubberized handle is much nicer to use—I don't regret buying it. This one is more of a rugged tool that's supposed to handle as many tasks as possible within reason. It's light for its size and well-balanced. The sheath is also very simple but serves its purpose. I'm taking off one star because it's not the prettiest ;) but if it holds up to camp work in tough terrain, it's definitely worth the money.
Cold Steel Bushman SK-5 Fixed Blade Knife
A simple, multifunctional survival knife with a fixed blade, made of SK-5 tool steel. An excellent choice for survival enthusiasts and fans of all kinds of outdoor adventures. The set includes a durable polymer sheath and a flint that allows you to effectively start a fire in any conditions.
SK-5 tool steel
The knife is made from a single piece of SK-5 tool steel, which is durable, highly resistant to cracking, chipping, and dulling, and at the same time easy to sharpen. The steel has been hardened to a hardness of 54 HRC, which ensures high toughness while maintaining optimal wear resistance.
flat grind, anti-corrosion coating
The blade, which is 178 mm long and 2.5 mm thick, features a straight spine and a clearly defined bevel, which enhances the tool's cutting performance. The blade has a flat grind and is coated with a black, anti-corrosive epoxy coating, which also reduces glare.
steel handle with hollow inside, lanyard hole
The knife’s monolithic construction features an oval, hollow handle, which allows it to be used as a storage compartment for small items. With a shaft of sufficient length, the Bushman model can be transformed into a spear thanks to the shape of the handle, which acts as a sleeve that widens toward the tip. There is a hole in the rear of the handle for threading a safety cord.
rigid polymer sheath, flint holder
The set includes a rigid sheath made of durable, damage-resistant polymer, which allows you to carry the knife comfortably on your belt. The sheath is equipped with a sturdy holder for the included flint, allowing you to safely carry the fire source along with the knife.

SK-5 steel belongs to a series of Japanese tool steel (Steel Kuogu) with high carbon content and good wear resistance. It is equivalent to American 1080 steel and is also designated as SK-85. It contains about 0.8-0.9% carbon, which gives it high hardness and very good cutting properties. The addition of manganese (0.1-0.5%) improves hardenability, silicon (0.1-0.35%) increases elasticity and strength, and small amounts of chromium (about 0.3%) and copper (up to 0.025%) promote the steel's wear resistance and slow down degradation processes. The presence of nickel (up to 0.25%) further enhances strength, while low sulfur and phosphorus content reduces the material's brittleness. After quenching, SK-5 reaches a hardness of up to 63-65 HRC, and its martensitic structure with fine carbides provides a favorable combination of wear resistance and mechanical strength. Thanks to these properties, the steel is used in chisels, saws, springs, drills, and in utility and tactical knives.

A piece of iron! It inspires trust, has a pleasant weight, and surprisingly fits well in the hand for a piece of bent metal, but it is much more comfortable to use with gloves than without. I bought it out of curiosity, but after the first impression, it's likely to stay for longer.

Very good knife, quite handy, although you need to be careful not to accidentally cut yourself—it's a trade-off—but the fact that it can be used as a spearhead is worth every penny spent on this equipment. Well, a good spear "likes" a blade without any extra guards/crossbars.
-
The biggest advantage is that you can attach it as a spearhead.
-
A serious piece of steel at a very good price. Sharp, batoning/chopping is easy with this knife. I haven't tried it as a spear yet, but I'm sure it will work well.
-
I really wanted to have it with its "humpbacked" brother. It only required removing the unsightly coating and wrapping the handle with cord and tape for better grip.
-
An interesting concept, as a knife it's moderately practical, the construction makes it easy to cut your fingers. Given its sharpness, that's very easy to do. However, with the handle used as a spear, it performs surprisingly well, you can even throw it.
-
Very good quality, strong and durable knife. I recommend it.
-
Sharp as a razor and strong, it withstands throws as a throwing knife and the head of a javelin. A universal tool for camping, survival, and training at a great price.
-
The Bushman arrived oiled and razor sharp. Light, yet it cuts and chops very well. The set includes a light but solid sheath that holds the knife even during heavy action. I recommend it.
-
A piece of strong steel with a contoured handle, the previous model had a welded handle, this one is made from a single piece. Nice idea for a different kind of forest knife.
-
The perfect survival knife. For not much money, you get a great forest tool, along with a fairly good firestarter in the set.
-
A piece of good metal with nothing to break. Sharp right out of the box. The hollow grind makes sharpening in the field extremely easy. The ideal larger knife for the forest.
-
Brilliant design in its simplicity. A great advantage is the ability to fit a shaft – making it possible to turn it into something like a cleaver, machete, spear, or javelin, depending on the stick you insert into the handle. The steel is good and can be sharpened. I don’t like the black coating (it can be scratched off, although it holds well), the firestarter is poor, the sheath is a matter of preference. For me, only the steel elements of the set are interesting :) Very interesting overall.

A very good "piece of metal", the quintessence of practicality and minimalism for a tiny price. This is my second one, I wore the first one out after 15 years of intensive outdoor use (batoning, chopping, etc.). I'm coming back for it because it's worth it.
