Cold Steel Magnum Warcraft Tanto XL San Mai III Knife

Featuring a fixed blade with a 305 mm length and a Tanto profile, this knife is constructed from laminated San Mai III stainless steel. The blade is treated with the satining method, providing a semi-matte finish. Handle scales are crafted from rugged glass-epoxy composite G10 material with a textured, non-slip surface. Set includes a sheath designed in the Secure-Ex system.

Laminated San Mai III stainless steel

The Warcraft XL is equipped with a blade featuring a Tanto profile, crafted from laminated San Mai III stainless steel. This steel is known for exceptional edge retention and remarkable durability under stress, as well as a high resistance to cracking. The blade boasts a full-flat grind, offering outstanding cutting performance while preserving a substantial, break-resistant thickness. Jimping (grooving) has been added to the spine at the thumb rest, ensuring enhanced control and precision during use.

Full Tang construction, G10 scales

Featuring an ergonomically contoured handle with a Full Tang construction, this tool incorporates scales crafted from G10 glass-epoxy laminate, renowned for exceptional durability against mechanical wear and adverse environmental conditions. The textured, non-slip surface offers a dependable and comfortable grip throughout operation. A lanyard hole is integrated at the end of the handle, allowing for attachment of a safety cord. A low-profile single-sided cross guard is designed not to interfere with use and, together with the finger choil, effectively safeguards the hand—even under intense thrusting force.

Sheath in the Secure-Ex system

Included in the set is a rigid sheath utilizing the Secure-Ex system, constructed from lightweight, robust, and weather-resistant material. Strategically placed holes and loops on either side of the sheath provide versatile mounting options for attaching to belts or gear in multiple positions.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
San Mai feature
San Mai
San Mai (ja. "three layers") is a three-layer steel laminate developed by Cold Steel, combining a hard, high-carbon core with outer layers of stainless steel that offer high flexibility and corrosion resistance. The outer layers protect the core from damage, increase the blade's impact resistance, and facilitate maintenance. Depending on the generation, Cold Steel has used different core steels: VG-1 (San Mai III), containing 0.95-1.05% carbon and 13-15% chromium, characterized by good edge retention and rust resistance, and VG-10, enriched with molybdenum (0.9-1.2%) and vanadium (0.2-0.3%), which improves hardness, abrasion resistance, and edge retention. After proper heat treatment, the core reaches a hardness of 59-61 HRC. Products with a VG-1 San Mai core are manufactured in Japan in limited editions and are used in Cold Steel's most exclusive collector's fixed knives. VG-10 San Mai is produced in small series and is used exclusively in top-of-the-line collector's knives. San Mai is a registered trademark of Cold Steel.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
