Cold Steel Medieval Training Buckler
Training buckler designed for fencing practice, ensuring effective protection during sparring while maintaining freedom of movement. Small, circular shields categorized as bucklers emerged in medieval Europe in the 12th century and remained in use until the 18th century, with Scottish Highlanders retaining them in their arsenal the longest. Medieval buckler diameters typically ranged from 200 mm to 400 mm. Utilized by a variety of users—civilians for self-defense, as well as soldiers, archers, and knights—these shields served multiple combat roles. The earliest fencing manual detailing sword and buckler techniques is the "Walpurgis Fechtbuch" (MS I.33), composed around the year 1300.
