An atmospheric classic American pocket knife in a version by Cold Steel. The whole set goes very well with the solid leather sheath. A very pleasant set. I recommend it.
Cold Steel Ranch Hand Folding Knife SK-5
The Folding EDC Knife from the Ranch series draws inspiration from traditional farmer knives. Outfitted with a clip-point blade crafted from high carbon SK-5 steel, valued for outstanding toughness and excellent edge retention. The brown handle is constructed from plastic that mimics bone. Opening is achieved via a nail notch, while a Liner Lock mechanism ensures safe operation for the user.
Durable and easy to sharpen SK-5 steel
Forged from high carbon tool steel SK-5, the knife blade delivers exceptional strength and is highly resistant to cracking, chipping, and dulling, while remaining easy to resharpen. Through heat treatment, the blade attains a hardness of 63-65 HRC, ensuring outstanding wear resistance and long-lasting durability.
Clip-Point blade, satin finish method
The Clip-Point blade offers a length of 76 mm and a thickness of 2.4 mm. Precision is delivered through a smooth edge, crafted with a full flat grind for outstanding slicing performance. Enhanced aesthetics and increased resistance to scratches come from a satin finish that provides a semi-matte look.
Ergonomic handle, hole for securing cord
Featuring an ergonomically designed handle, the construction incorporates a stainless steel core with plastic scales that mimic bone and a non-slip finish. The design includes a bolster for enhanced grip and is capped with a steel pommel. A hole at the pommel's end enables the attachment of a lanyard or securing cord.
Liner Lock
A dependable Liner Lock mechanism firmly secures the blade when opened. Deployment of the knife is facilitated by a nail notch.
Leather sheath
A brown sheath crafted from thick leather is provided, ensuring secure knife carry on a belt. A snap-fastened flap keeps the knife from falling out accidentally.

SK-5 steel belongs to a series of Japanese tool steel (Steel Kuogu) with high carbon content and good wear resistance. It is equivalent to American 1080 steel and is also designated as SK-85. It contains about 0.8-0.9% carbon, which gives it high hardness and very good cutting properties. The addition of manganese (0.1-0.5%) improves hardenability, silicon (0.1-0.35%) increases elasticity and strength, and small amounts of chromium (about 0.3%) and copper (up to 0.025%) promote the steel's wear resistance and slow down degradation processes. The presence of nickel (up to 0.25%) further enhances strength, while low sulfur and phosphorus content reduces the material's brittleness. After quenching, SK-5 reaches a hardness of up to 63-65 HRC, and its martensitic structure with fine carbides provides a favorable combination of wear resistance and mechanical strength. Thanks to these properties, the steel is used in chisels, saws, springs, drills, and in utility and tactical knives.
