An atmospheric classic American pocket knife in a version by Cold Steel. The whole set goes very well with the solid leather sheath. A very pleasant set. I recommend it.
Cold Steel Ranch Hand SK-5 Folding Knife
An EDC (Every Day Carry) folding knife from the Ranch series, whose design is inspired by classic farm knives. It features a Clip-Point blade made of high-carbon SK-5 steel, which is prized for its durability and ability to retain a sharp edge. The brown handle is made of bone-look plastic. The knife opens via a thumb notch, and the Liner Lock ensures safe use.
Durable and easy to sharpen SK-5 steel
The knife blade is made of high-carbon SK-5 tool steel, which is characterized by its strength and high resistance to cracking, chipping, and dulling, while also being easy to sharpen. After heat treatment, it achieves a hardness of 63–65 HRC, making it a robust material with good wear resistance and high durability.
Clip-Point blade, satin finish method
The blade, with a Clip-Point profile, is 76 mm long and 2.4 mm thick. It features a smooth cutting edge finished with a full flat grind, which ensures excellent cutting performance. The blade is finished with a satin finish, which gives it a semi-matte surface, enhancing its appearance and increasing its scratch resistance.
Ergonomic handle, hole for securing cord
The ergonomically contoured handle consists of a stainless steel framework and bone-effect plastic scales with a non-slip surface. It features a bolster and is topped with a steel pommel. A hole at the end allows you to thread a safety cord or lanyard through it.
Liner Lock
When open, the blade is securely locked in place by a reliable Liner Lock. The knife is opened using the fingernail notch.
Leather sheath
The set includes a brown sheath made of thick leather, allowing you to safely carry the knife on your belt. A flap with a snap closure protects the knife from accidentally falling out.

SK-5 steel belongs to a series of Japanese tool steel (Steel Kuogu) with high carbon content and good wear resistance. It is equivalent to American 1080 steel and is also designated as SK-85. It contains about 0.8-0.9% carbon, which gives it high hardness and very good cutting properties. The addition of manganese (0.1-0.5%) improves hardenability, silicon (0.1-0.35%) increases elasticity and strength, and small amounts of chromium (about 0.3%) and copper (up to 0.025%) promote the steel's wear resistance and slow down degradation processes. The presence of nickel (up to 0.25%) further enhances strength, while low sulfur and phosphorus content reduces the material's brittleness. After quenching, SK-5 reaches a hardness of up to 63-65 HRC, and its martensitic structure with fine carbides provides a favorable combination of wear resistance and mechanical strength. Thanks to these properties, the steel is used in chisels, saws, springs, drills, and in utility and tactical knives.
