Cold Steel Crawford 1 4034 Folding Knife

A durable folding knife with a Clip-Point blade profile, developed in collaboration with Wes Crawford. The cutting edge features a saber grind, which ensures good cutting performance and a strong tip. The blade is made of Japanese 4034 stainless steel, which retains its sharpness for a long time. The black Zy-Tex handle provides an ergonomic and comfortable grip during use.

The blade is made of 4034 stainless steel, hardened to a hardness of 55–57 HRC. It is characterized by high resistance to corrosion, good mechanical strength, and ease of sharpening.

At the base of the blade there is a flipper, which allows for quick one-handed opening of the knife. Once the blade is open, it acts as a cross guard, protecting the hand from accidentally sliding onto the cutting edge.

Contoured handle with Zy-Ex

The handle is made of Zy-Ex composite, a durable glass-fiber-reinforced nylon that increases resistance to damage. Additional textured rubber non-slip inserts improve grip.

Spring Leaf Lock, spring clip

The Spring Leaf Lock enhances the knife’s safety; thanks to its spring mechanism, it locks the blade in place and reduces the risk of accidental folding. The lock features an additional safety mechanism that improves its shock resistance.

4034SS - an alternative designation for Krupp 4034 steel, also known as X46Cr13 or 1.4034, is a German martensitic stainless steel developed by ThyssenKrupp. The carbon content of 0.46% ensures moderate hardness, while chromium (13%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also has good hardenability and structural stability thanks to the addition of manganese (approx. 1%) and silicon (approx. 1%). After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 54-57 HRC, which ensures a durable but easy-to-resharpen edge. Thanks to its combination of corrosion resistance, easy maintenance, and good elasticity, 4034SS is a popular choice for the production of everyday carry (EDC) knives, hunting and kitchen knives, and tools.

Spring Leaf Lock

Spring Leaf Lock is a folding knife lock by Cold Steel, combining a classic Liner Lock with an additional spring bar. When the blade is opened, the spring secures the liner, preventing accidental folding even during strong shocks. To close the knife, first move the safety guard aside and then release the lock. This mechanism increases safety and reliability during use.

Zy-Ex

Zy-Ex is a composite material developed by Cold Steel, based on glass fiber reinforced polyamide. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and low water absorption, allowing it to retain its properties even under intensive use in harsh conditions. The material is lightweight yet very rigid, allowing for the construction of a solid handle without excessively increasing the weight of the knife. The surface of Zy-Ex is designed to imitate the structure of natural wood, which gives it an attractive appearance and improves grip. Thanks to the combination of these features, Zy-Ex is used in tactical, outdoor, and EDC knives.
