Cold Steel Wild West Bowie Fixed Blade Knife 1090

A classic Bowie knife featuring a fixed blade with Full Tang construction, inspired by the iconic knives seen in American westerns. The substantial blade has a Clip-Point profile and is constructed from durable 1090 tool steel. The handle is made from natural, dark rosewood. Included is a traditional leather sheath, ensuring safe and easy carrying.

1090 carbon steel

Forged from 1090 carbon steel, the knife blade delivers solid hardness and reliable wear resistance. After proper heat treatment, the steel reaches a hardness of 55-58 HRC, providing a tough and long-lasting edge. Regular upkeep is necessary, however, due to its tendency to corrode.

Clip-point blade profile

Featuring a massive, wide blade with a Clip-Point design and a length of 273 mm, the knife boasts a forward-shifted center of gravity for exceptional chopping and cutting power, making it ideal for demanding field tasks. A thickness of 4.75 mm significantly boosts the blade's strength and resistance to breakage. The addition of a false edge along the spine increases effectiveness in piercing actions and enhances the precision of controlled movements.

Full tang construction, rosewood scales

Built with a Full Tang construction, the knife features a single continuous piece forming both the blade and handle tang. The handle scales are crafted from genuine dark rosewood, lending the knife a timeless aesthetic. Brass screws firmly attach the scales. Positioned between the blade and handle, a wide S-shaped brass cross guard shields the user's hand from slipping forward onto the blade. A lanyard or cord hole is integrated at the handle’s end for secure attachment options.

Classic leather sheath

The set comes equipped with a traditional black leather sheath, which can be secured to a belt via a brass swivel loop. A leather strap is also provided for fastening the sheath to the leg.

1090 is a carbon steel with an average carbon content of approximately 0.90%, which gives it good hardness and abrasion resistance. It achieves a hardness of 55-58 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for a durable cutting edge. Thanks to its simple composition (carbon and manganese), it is also easy to machine and has good hardenability properties. 1090 steel is relatively susceptible to corrosion, which requires proper protection and maintenance.
