Nice, lightweight jacket. It doesn't have a lining, so it doesn't heat up too much, but it protects against the wind and slightly against the rain. Lots of pockets, well made. The only comment I have is that the front (main) pockets are positioned high. It's very nice when you have a backpack with a hip belt, but for everyday walking I had to get used to it. I recommend!

A lightweight and functional softshell jacket made from the modern StormStretch fabric, a blend of 98% nylon and 2% elastane. The material used is highly resistant to abrasion and tearing while remaining flexible, which ensures comfort and freedom of movement. The fabric is lightweight and provides good protection against moderate rain, snow, and wind, making it ideal as an outer layer. The outer surface is coated with DuPont Teflon to protect against dirt and water.
The jacket features seven pockets:
- two chest pockets with zippers,
- two on the sleeves at shoulder height,
- one on the left sleeve above the wrist,
- one internal pocket closed with velcro,
- one so-called poacher's pocket - on the back below the waist, with two independent access points - from the right and left side.
The shoulder pockets have soft velcro for attaching a suitably prepared patch.
The hood hidden in the collar is roomy enough to be worn over a head already protected with a cap. It has a soft visor that protects the user from water running directly onto the face. It is sewn in in such a way that when removed it does not expose the neck. This way the user is not exposed to chilling in particularly sensitive areas. There is a drawstring at the bottom, which allows the jacket to be tightened for a better seal.
The sleeves from the wrist to the elbow have been reinforced with durable fabric, and the cuffs with a flap fastened with velcro allow the size to be adjusted depending on the thickness of the wrist, as well as whether the user also wears gloves or for example a watch. Ventilation zippers are placed under the jacket's armpits.

Review summary
The Helikon Trooper Softshell Jacket receives highly positive feedback from users. They praise its lightweight design, comfort, and the abundance of practical pockets, which make it suitable for both urban use and outdoor adventures. The jacket offers excellent wind protection and moderate rain resistance, while the quick-drying and breathable fabric maintains comfort across a wide temperature range. Many recommend using an impregnation agent to improve water resistance. The jacket performs well as an outer layer from spring through autumn; for winter, an additional insulating layer is advised. Its durability, thoughtful details like the adjustable hood and underarm ventilation, and overall functionality are widely appreciated. A few users mention sizing issues, the non-elastic material, or the placement of main pockets, but the vast majority recommend the Trooper as a versatile, robust, and reliable outdoor garment.

Exceptional jacket. Fits great, protects very well against wind and rain. The material feels solid. Ventilation openings under the arms, lots of pockets.
-
Nice, lightweight, very thin. This is not the typical softshell I've used so far. Ideal choice for: spring, cooler summer nights, autumn. Cut, pockets, quality - Helikon. If you like this style, you'll wear it and be satisfied with the product.

It's a great pity that Helikon decided not to continue this model – there is an MK2 version but in my opinion it's not the same. This jacket looks much better than its successor. True, I was hunting for the Shadow grey color, but the "green" one also looks great. If you are 175 cm tall and weigh 75 kg, chest 95, size M is perfect: slightly loose so you can fit in a fleece or sweatshirt and it's still not tight. I really like the tactical look. The jacket is a typical windblocker; for rain protection, I plan to impregnate it after some time. It's not as light as you might expect – the hood is heavy. The only drawback: the sleeves could be 1 cm longer, though I'm not entirely sure, as they are well-fitted and only feel short when stretching arms.

It's about the good quality and utility. It's light and durable. But...it doesn't protect you from the rain. Even a few drops go through the surface and give you that unpleasant feeling on your shoulders. Take it into consideration if looking for a raincoat.

I bought the jacket in 2015 and it still serves me very well, especially during autumn and early spring trips to the mountains and beyond. The only visible damage is on the cuffs—the Velcro cover has lost its color. It's also ideal for light rain, and when properly impregnated, it performs just fine even in somewhat heavier rain.

I don't quite understand the purpose of this softshell, it doesn't protect against cold, eventually stops protecting from rain, it's not really windproof, it does breathe, that's true, but does that even matter with all that?
-
Very good jacket, protects from wind, can be folded easily. Does not restrict movement—it's very comfortable. Helikon products are of very good quality, I buy them blindly and am very satisfied.

This is already my second Trooper (the first one is gray, often in use). Good workmanship. The placement of the pockets is individual—if you have a bigger chest, it can get a bit tight when you put something larger in. The size matches the given dimensions, but the cut isn't tighter than you'd expect from the measurements.

Helikon Trooper Softshell Jacket - an extremely lightweight jacket for warm weather. Its design is similar to the Blizzard, but it's somewhat shorter. It dries quickly, protects very well from wind, and offers partial protection from water.
-
Opinion after a year of use: Nice, light jacket. Worn very often in the transitional season and in winter with light frost, used in the city and outdoors. It works very well as a windbreaker, mediocre when it comes to waterproofness. For light, passing rain it’s OK, but afterward it leaks. On the plus side: solid workmanship, no visible flaws (no loose threads or unfinished parts), spacious hood, and lots of pockets. Minus: no mesh in the underarm ventilation, high price.
-
Light and breathable. The color is nice, looks even better than in the photo. There is no membrane, so it's rather for dry conditions, but it's ventilated and the number of pockets makes it easier to store small items. I recommend both the jacket and the store.
-
Great softshell, good water resistance, but after washing you MUST remember to use impregnation. I recommend it.
-
Great membrane-free softshell with a fitted cut. I recommend it!
-
One of my many Helikon jackets, always excellently made. I take it on most spring or autumn outings.
