This windbreaker made a great impression on me as soon as I took it out of the packaging. The quality of workmanship, the very thin yet durable material, the cut, and in my case the Desert Night Camo version – I rate all of it very highly. In September I still did not have the opportunity to test it in the field, but I know the properties of the fabric it was made from very well, and that is exactly why I decided to buy it. I was looking for an ultralight second layer for trekking in warmer months, worn only over a thin functional T-shirt. With that in mind, I also chose the size – XS fits perfectly for a 108 cm chest, 177 cm height, and 75 kg weight. Nothing hangs loose, and at the same time nothing feels tight. The jacket is carefully sewn, and Helikon still maintains a high standard, which is why I also gladly reach for their other products. The only thing I would change is the elasticated sleeve ends. I think they are too tight and therefore less comfortable; a thin, flexible cuff would be a better solution. Other than that, I have no complaints – both the low weight and the compact packed size make it practically unnoticeable in a backpack. This thin nylon was originally developed for the military with rapid movement in mind, without the need for complicated clothing changes. Regardless of what is underneath, the jacket provides very good breathability and effective wind protection, exactly in line with its intended purpose. It is not a rain jacket, because other materials are used for that. For my use and in the role described, it is an excellent choice and I can recommend it with full confidence.
