Hogue SIG A01 MicroSwitch Emperor Scorpion Drop-Point Spring Knife - Flat Dark Earth/Black

Compact spring knife designed for everyday EDC use and tactical applications. The model was created in collaboration with the Hogue brand and SIG Sauer company, making it stylistically reminiscent of the iconic Emperor Scorpion pistol series. The Drop-Point blade is made of CPM 154 stainless steel and coated with a PVD layer in Flat Dark Earth color, enhancing scratch and rust resistance. The handle is made from black G10 laminate scales.

CPM 154 steel

The blade is made of CPM 154 powdered stainless steel, hardened to a hardness of 57-59 HRC. The material used is characterized by high wear resistance and good corrosion resistance, as well as low susceptibility to chipping and cracking. The manufacturer also applied cryogenic treatment to the steel, improving the material's structural stability and the blade's durability during intensive use. The surface is finished with a PVD coating, which protects against scratches, improves corrosion resistance, and minimizes glare.

The Drop-Point blade is 70 mm long and 3.1 mm thick. The blade is ground with a high Hollow Grind, which enhances cutting efficiency for everyday tasks. On the spine of the blade, at the thumb rest, jimping is added to aid in guiding the cut.

G10 laminate handle, Impact Pommel

The handle consists of black G10 laminate scales. The anti-slip Mini Piranha texture, similar to that in Emperor Scorpion pistols, ensures a firm grip. The tapered end of the handle (Impact Pommel) can serve as an additional field tool.

plunge lock, MicroSwitch System

The model features an automatic opening mechanism activated by a button located on the handle. The MicroSwitch System uses a strong spring to facilitate instant blade opening, ensuring smooth and reliable operation in any conditions. An additional safety element is the Plunge Lock, which secures the knife from accidental opening during transport. The design is complemented by a steel deep-carry clip for discreet pocket carry. The clip can be mounted on either side of the handle, making the model suitable for both right- and left-handed users.

CPM 154 feature
CPM 154
CPM 154 is a stainless powder steel developed by Crucible Industries, which is an improved version of the classic 154CM steel. It is characterized by a high carbon content (1.05%) and chromium (14%), which ensures good corrosion resistance and high hardness. The steel also contains molybdenum (4%), manganese (0.5%), and silicon (0.3%), which improves its abrasion resistance and stability at high temperatures. Thanks to the CPM (Crucible Particle Metallurgy) technology used, the steel has a fine-grained microstructure, which translates into greater uniformity, better resistance to cracking, and more predictable behavior during sharpening. After proper heat treatment, CPM 154 achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, which provides an optimal combination of strength, sharpness retention, and corrosion resistance. This steel is often used in the production of premium knives, EDC knives, and custom designs.
Plunge Lock feature
Plunge Lock
Plunge Lock (also known as Button Lock) is a locking mechanism based on a spring button. When opened, the tang enters a notch at the base of the blade, securely locking it in the working position, and when closed, it acts as a detent, holding the blade in the handle. The system allows for quick and convenient one-handed opening and closing, while increasing safety as the fingers do not come into contact with the blade edge. It is valued for its simple operation, smooth functioning, and popularity in EDC and collector's knives.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition feature
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating is a modern technology for applying ultra-thin layers of metal in a vacuum, which significantly increases the durability of knives. Thanks to this, the blade becomes highly resistant to scratches, abrasion, and corrosion, while gaining a matte surface that reduces glare. This process allows for aesthetic finishes in various colors, from deep black to gold, which do not wear off like classic paint. As a result, the knife retains its great appearance and full functionality even with intensive use.

Very comfortable handle. It fills the hand well, which makes working with this knife quite comfortable. It's a pity that there isn't better steel in this price range. The workmanship and mechanics are excellent.
