Kershaw Proximal Folding Knife - Olive

A folding EDC knife boasting a compact, ergonomic design. The Proximal model is equipped with a Drop-Point blade crafted from D2 tool steel, delivering exceptional durability and resistance to wear. The olive G10 laminate handle offers a secure, confident grip, while the ambidextrous thumb stud and DuraLock mechanism provide smooth, safe operation.

D2 tool steel

Crafted from D2 tool steel, hardened to 59-60 HRC, the blade delivers exceptional abrasion resistance and minimizes the risk of chipping or cracking. Renowned for its ease of sharpening, this type of steel offers dependable performance. Featuring a Stonewash finish, the surface boasts a matte look that effectively hides scratches accumulated during use.

Drop-Point blade, flat grind, thumb stud

Equipped with a Drop-Point profile blade, the knife offers a length of 80 mm and a thickness of 2.8 mm. Featuring a prominent high flat grind, the blade is engineered for superior cutting performance while preserving optimal strength to withstand demanding use. Along the spine, at the thumb rest, strategically placed jimping (texturing) enhances blade control during cutting tasks.

Effortless blade deployment is provided by the advanced KVT ball bearing system, which minimizes operational friction and enables rapid, one-handed opening via the thumb stud.

G10 laminate handle, deep-carry clip

Designed with ergonomics in mind, the handle is constructed from olive-colored G10 laminate. Offering excellent structural rigidity while maintaining a lightweight profile, this material proves ideal for an everyday carry knife. A deep-carry clip ensures the knife remains securely and discreetly stowed, while ambidextrous clip mounting enables users to personalize their setup. An integrated lanyard or safety cord hole is positioned at the end of the handle.

DuraLock mechanism

The DuraLock mechanism secures the blade in place when open, reliably preventing unintended closure. Utilizing the knife remains safe and dependable, even in demanding environments.

Militaria.pl is a distributor of Kershaw.

Kershaw is an American knife brand, founded in 1974 by Pete Kershaw in Oregon, which from the very beginning has focused on the highest quality and practical solutions for hunters, anglers, and everyday users. In 1977, the company was acquired by the Japanese Kai Group, allowing it to combine American innovation with Japanese craftsmanship. In 1998, Kershaw revolutionized the market by introducing the SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism, and in the following years won prestigious Blade Show awards for models such as the Tyrade with Composite Blade technology combining two different types of steel. The brand is also known for its collaboration with renowned knifemakers, including Ken Onion, Ernest Emerson, and Rick Hinderer, which has resulted in iconic models such as the Leek and Cryo.

D2 feature
D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.
KVT - Kershaw Velocity Technology feature
KVT - Kershaw Velocity Technology
KVT (Kershaw Velocity Technology) is an advanced ball bearing system developed by Kershaw that ensures smooth and quick blade opening in folding knives. The mechanism is based on a ball bearing in which the balls are mounted in a plastic cage - this solution stabilizes the rolling elements and additionally minimizes friction, which translates into very smooth blade movement. In practice, KVT makes opening the knife with a flipper or thumb stud as easy and fast as in models with mechanical opening assistance, while maintaining the manual nature of the operation.
DuraLock feature
DuraLock
DuraLock is a cross-lock system developed by Kershaw as its own interpretation of the Axis Lock. It uses a steel bar and omega springs to lock the blade in the open position, ensuring high durability and safety of use. The mechanism operates smoothly, is operated on both sides, and allows for easy opening and closing with one hand.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
