LKW Fox Micarta knife by Radosław Łęgowik

A solid knife with a fixed blade featuring a Full Tang design, intended for outdoor work and everyday carry (EDC). The Drop-Point profile blade is made of high-carbon stainless steel O2 Bohler K720, known for its very high strength and wear resistance. The blade surface has been finished using the Stonewash method, giving it a matte effect. The design and production of the presented model are the work of Polish knifemaker Radosław Łęgowik.

Polish project

Radosław Łęgowik is a Polish knife maker and founder of the brand LKW - Libra Knife Works. Since 2007, he has hand-designed and crafted knives based on his own patterns - each piece is created in his workshop with full control of the process, including hardening and heat treatment. The offer includes both tactical knives with modern styling and fully functional survival knives.

O2 Bohler K720 tool steel

The knife is made of high-carbon tool steel O2 Bohler K720 hardened to a hardness of 59 HRC. The material used, combined with precise heat treatment, is characterized by high strength, resistance to cracking, and good edge retention. Additionally, this steel is easy to sharpen, even in field conditions, which is particularly important for a knife intended for outdoor and bushcraft use.

Drop-Point profile, flat grind, jimping

The blade with a length of 115 mm and a thickness of 3.3 mm has a Drop-Point shape and a distinctly marked belly, increasing the tool's efficiency during cutting. The blade is finished with a flat grind reaching halfway up the blade. At the spine, where the thumb rests, there is jimping (notching) to enhance control over the blade during cutting. The blade surface is finished with the Stonewash method, making the blade more matte, and scratches incurred during use less visible.

Micarta handle, cross guard, lanyard hole

The ergonomically shaped handle made of Micarta, a durable and waterproof material based on epoxy resin, provides a secure and safe grip in all conditions. The handle is additionally equipped with a cross guard, which prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade during work. At the rear of the handle is a lanyard hole for securing a cord. In the Fox model, the tang of the knife protrudes beyond the scales of the handle, allowing it to be used for emergency glass breaking and as an additional field tool.

rigid Kydex sheath, belt loop

The set includes a rigid sheath made of lightweight, damage-resistant Kydex material. Holes and grommets on each side of the sheath allow for multi-positional attachment to gear. A loop at the back of the sheath allows for belt mounting.

O2 feature
O2
O2 is a medium carbon tool steel (approximately 0.9%) characterized by good hardness, abrasion resistance, and strength. Its carbon content ensures high hardness in the range of 58-60 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for a durable cutting edge. This steel also contains small amounts of manganese (0.3%) and silicon (0.2%), which improves its hardenability and structural stability. O2 is relatively easy to machine, making it a popular choice for the manufacture of cutting tools, industrial knives, files, and cutting tools. It is susceptible to corrosion and therefore requires proper maintenance and protection against rust. Due to its abrasive properties and hardness, O2 steel is mainly used in work tools that require wear resistance.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.

A piece of solid outdoor knife. It will chop, baton, and after all that, prepare a meal. It's worth noting that the sheath is made of ABS, not kydex—a small difference.
