LKW, or Libra Knife Works, is a Polish maker of survival and tactical knives, founded by Radosław Łęgowik — a dedicated knifemaker who turned his passion into a profession in 2007. Every LKW knife is an original, hand-crafted design built from premium materials: Böhler N690, K720 (O2), D2, and VG-10 steels, G10 and Micarta handles, and Kydex sheaths. It is a Polish artisan brand with a fast-growing following among collectors and users looking for a premium "Made in Poland" working knife.
History and Maker
Radosław Łęgowik began his journey in knifemaking in 2007, starting from a hobby that gradually became his craft and livelihood. As the sole creator behind LKW, he oversees every stage of production: from design and steel selection through heat treatment to the final finish on each knife. Performing his own hardening and tempering is a point of pride — it gives him complete control over blade hardness and resilience, the two factors that determine long-term field performance. The workshop is based in Soborzycie (Silesian Voivodeship) and produces exclusively on a made-to-order or limited-run basis.
Materials and Quality
The LKW philosophy rests on a single, uncompromising principle: only the best materials. Blades are ground from Austrian Böhler steel — N690 (premium stainless for tactical knives), K720 (O2 carbon steel for survival and hunting knives), and K110 (D2 tool steel for specialized applications). Blade hardness ranges from 58–60 HRC depending on the steel grade and intended use. Handles are fitted from G10 or Micarta scales — fully waterproof and virtually indestructible. Sheaths are hand-formed in Kydex, individually fitted to each knife.
Models and Range
The LKW portfolio includes several distinct named models: Rebeliant (a heavy-duty K720 survival knife), Bad Hunter (a compact N690 hunting knife), Monkey (a small EDC blade), Dragon (a long-bladed model), Inquizitor, and Mauler — each with its own original geometry and character. The tactical line (N690 steel) covers EDC and military-oriented knives. The survival line (O2 steel) focuses on full-tang field knives suited to bushcraft, hunting, and survival use. Damasteel and Damascus VG-10 models are also available for collectors.
LKW — Polish Craftsmanship at a World-Class Level
LKW knives have earned recognition in European markets and in the United States, where they are distributed in part through polishcustomknives.com. This is a rare example of a Polish knife brand that competes confidently with established European and Asian makers. LKW pricing sits firmly in the custom/artisan tier — noticeably above mass-market production knives, but fully justified by the level of craftsmanship and the quality of materials used.
