LKW Modern Pukko Knife by Radosław Łęgowik - Brown Micarta

Knife with a fixed blade of Full Tang construction, inspired by traditional Scandinavian puukko knives. The blade with a Drop-Point profile is made of O2 Bohler K720 steel, characterized by ease of sharpening, good edge retention, and high corrosion resistance. It will prove useful as a knife for bushcraft expeditions, camp preparation, or outdoor meal preparation. The design and execution of this model are credited to Polish knifemaker Radosław Łęgowik.

Polish design

Radosław Łęgowik is a Polish knife maker and the founder of the brand LKW - Libra Knife Works. Since 2007, he has been hand-designing and crafting knives based on his own designs - each piece is created in his workshop with full process control, including hardening and heat treatment. The offer includes both tactical knives with modern styling and fully functional survival knives.

O2 Bohler K720 tool steel

The knife is made from high-carbon O2 Bohler K720 tool steel hardened to a hardness of 59 HRC. The material used, combined with precise heat treatment, is characterized by high strength, crack resistance, and good edge retention. Additionally, this steel is easy to sharpen, even in field conditions, which is especially important for an outdoor and bushcraft knife.

Drop-Point profile, flat grind, jimping

The blade, measuring 111 mm in length and 3.3 mm in thickness, features a Drop-Point shape with a distinctly pronounced belly, enhancing the tool's cutting efficiency. The edge is finished with a flat grind, which, combined with the blade's geometry, provides excellent cutting properties and high precision during knife work.

On the spine, at the thumb rest area, jimping (grooving) is applied, facilitating control over the blade during cutting. The blade's surface is finished using the Stonewash method, making the blade more matte and lessening the visibility of scratches incurred during use.

Micarta handle, lanyard hole

The ergonomically shaped handle in brown is made from Micarta, a durable and waterproof material based on epoxy resin. The handle provides a stable and secure grip in all conditions. At the rear of the handle, there is a lanyard hole for securing a cord.

rigid Kydex sheath, belt loop

The set includes a rigid sheath made from lightweight and damage-resistant Kydex. Holes and grommets placed on each side of the sheath allow for multi-positional attachment to gear. A belt loop is positioned at the back of the sheath for belt mounting.

O2 feature
O2
O2 is a medium carbon tool steel (approximately 0.9%) characterized by good hardness, abrasion resistance, and strength. Its carbon content ensures high hardness in the range of 58-60 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for a durable cutting edge. This steel also contains small amounts of manganese (0.3%) and silicon (0.2%), which improves its hardenability and structural stability. O2 is relatively easy to machine, making it a popular choice for the manufacture of cutting tools, industrial knives, files, and cutting tools. It is susceptible to corrosion and therefore requires proper maintenance and protection against rust. Due to its abrasive properties and hardness, O2 steel is mainly used in work tools that require wear resistance.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.

An interesting knife, being a loose modern variation on traditional Scandinavian knives. It works well and looks good. I recommend this model for all kinds of outdoor trips. The included sheath does its job.
