LKW Modern Hunter knife by Radosław Łęgowik - Brown

Compact knife with a fixed blade, designed both for field work and everyday use. The blade with a Drop Point profile is made of O2 Bohler K720 steel, known for its ease of sharpening, good edge retention, and high corrosion resistance. It works well as a bushcraft expedition knife, for camp setup or meal preparation in the wilderness, as well as a hunting knife. The design and execution of the presented model are by Polish knifemaker Radosław Łęgowik.

Polish design

Radosław Łęgowik is a Polish knife maker and founder of the brand LKW - Libra Knife Works. Since 2007, he has been hand-designing and creating knives based on his own patterns - each piece is made in his workshop with full control of the process, including hardening and heat treatment. The offer includes both tactical knives with modern styling and fully utilitarian survival knives.

Tool steel O2 Bohler K720

The knife is made from high carbon tool steel O2 Bohler K720 hardened to a hardness of 59 HRC. The material used, combined with precise heat treatment, is characterized by high strength, crack resistance, and good edge retention. Additionally, this steel is easy to sharpen, even in field conditions, which is particularly important for an outdoor and bushcraft knife.

Drop Point profile, concave grind, jimping

The blade, measuring 81 mm in length and 3.3 mm in thickness, has a Drop Point shape with a clearly marked belly, enhancing the tool's cutting efficiency. The blade has been ground with a concave grind, providing excellent cutting properties. A false edge at the top of the blade increases piercing capability and creates a sharp tip for tasks requiring high precision.

On the spine, at the thumb rest area, jimping (serrations) is placed, facilitating control over the blade during cutting. The blade surface is finished using the Stonewash method, making the blade more matte, and scratches from use less visible on it.

Handle out of Micarta, cross guard, lanyard hole

The handle is made of durable Micarta composite based on epoxy resin, which is distinguished by high mechanical strength, resistance to water, humidity and temperature changes, as well as most solvents and acids. The handle's non-slip texture and a practical finger groove ensure a secure grip, and a hole at the end allows for securing a lanyard.

rigid Kydex sheath, belt loop

The set includes a rigid sheath made from lightweight and damage-resistant Kydex material. Holes and grommets placed on each side of the sheath allow for multi-position attachment to equipment. A belt loop is placed at the back of the sheath for belt mounting.

O2 feature
O2
O2 is a medium carbon tool steel (approximately 0.9%) characterized by good hardness, abrasion resistance, and strength. Its carbon content ensures high hardness in the range of 58-60 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for a durable cutting edge. This steel also contains small amounts of manganese (0.3%) and silicon (0.2%), which improves its hardenability and structural stability. O2 is relatively easy to machine, making it a popular choice for the manufacture of cutting tools, industrial knives, files, and cutting tools. It is susceptible to corrosion and therefore requires proper maintenance and protection against rust. Due to its abrasive properties and hardness, O2 steel is mainly used in work tools that require wear resistance.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.

I was initially skeptical about the thumb cutout, but I must admit that it is well done. I highly recommend it to everyone, because it is really worth it.
