LKW Hundur XL Micarta Fixed Blade Knife by Radosław Łęgowik

Durable knife with a Full Tang construction and blade thickness of 4.4 mm. The blade with a Drop-Point profile is made from O2 Bohler K720 steel, which is characterized by ease of sharpening, good edge retention, and high corrosion resistance. It will prove useful as a knife for bushcraft expeditions, setting up camp, or preparing meals in the wild. This model is designed and crafted by Polish knifemaker Radosław Łęgowik.

Polish design

Radosław Łęgowik is a Polish knife maker and founder of the brand LKW - Libra Knife Works. Since 2007, he has been hand-designing and creating knives based on his own designs - each piece is made in his workshop with complete process control, including hardening and heat treatment. The offer includes both modern-styled tactical knives and fully functional survival knives.

Tool steel O2 Bohler K720

The knife is made from high-carbon tool steel O2 Bohler K720 hardened to a hardness of 59 HRC. The selected material, combined with precise heat treatment, is characterized by high durability, resistance to breaking, and good edge retention. Additionally, this steel is easy to sharpen, even in field conditions, which is particularly important for a knife intended for outdoor and bushcraft use.

Drop-Point profile, flat grind, jimping

The blade with a length of 137 mm and a thickness of 4.4 mm has a Drop-Point shape and a pronounced belly, increasing the tool's efficiency during cutting. The blade is finished with a flat grind reaching half the height of the blade. The false edge on the upper part of the blade enhances piercing capability and creates a sharp tip for performing tasks requiring high precision.

On the spine, at the thumb rest, jimping (notching) is placed to enhance control over the blade during cutting. The blade's surface is finished using the Stonewash technique, making the blade more matte and less showing scratches from use.

Handle made of Micarta, cross guard, lanyard hole

Ergonomically contoured handle made of Micarta, a durable and waterproof epoxy resin-based material, offers a secure and safe grip in all conditions. The handle is also equipped with a cross guard that prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade during knife work. At the rear of the handle, there is a lanyard hole, and the tang extends beyond the handle scales, allowing it to be used for emergency glass breaking and as an additional field tool.

stiff Kydex sheath, belt loop

The set includes a stiff sheath made of lightweight and damage-resistant Kydex material. Openings and loops on each side of the sheath allow for multi-position mounting to gear. At the back of the sheath, there is a loop for belt attachment.

O2 feature
O2
O2 is a medium carbon tool steel (approximately 0.9%) characterized by good hardness, abrasion resistance, and strength. Its carbon content ensures high hardness in the range of 58-60 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for a durable cutting edge. This steel also contains small amounts of manganese (0.3%) and silicon (0.2%), which improves its hardenability and structural stability. O2 is relatively easy to machine, making it a popular choice for the manufacture of cutting tools, industrial knives, files, and cutting tools. It is susceptible to corrosion and therefore requires proper maintenance and protection against rust. Due to its abrasive properties and hardness, O2 steel is mainly used in work tools that require wear resistance.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.
