The bed and cover are made solidly from durable material. I installed my set on a milled AK, which is a bit different from stamped AKs, but after a little modification of the bed, it was installed and holds steadily.

Lightweight and robust handguard engineered for AK-47, AKM, and AK-74 carbines, constructed from heat-resistant polymer in a black finish. An internal metal shield offers comprehensive protection from excessive heat buildup.
Side and bottom M-LOK slots enable attachment of additional accessories and allow for user customization. Handguard installation onto the rifle is tool-free.
Not compatible with Yugoslavian-manufactured carbines, RPK-style rifles, or models produced using milling techniques. Factory recoil plate and sling loop must be removed prior to mounting the handguard.
