Mechanix Wear ColdWork Waterproof Leather M-Pact Driver F9-360 Tactical Gloves - Tan/Black

Robust tactical gloves crafted from durable DuraHide leather offer exceptional cut resistance. Outfitted with a waterproof HiPora membrane and insulated with 100 g/m2 of synthetic PrimaLoft Gold fill, they are ideally suited for automotive workshop tasks, DIY projects, as well as tactical and survival scenarios.

Durable DuraHide leather and HPPE lining, cut resistance, TPR panels

Constructed from highly durable DuraHide leather, paired with an inner HPPE lining, the model ensures a high level of cut resistance compliant with EN 388 F and ANSI A9 standards. The upper part of the gloves features ergonomically designed thermoplastic rubber (TPR) panels, shielding the hand against abrasions and impacts. These panels are certified to meet EN 13594 and ANSI 138 Level 2 standards. Integrated compartments allow fingers to move freely and the hand to form a tight fist without restriction.

Materials utilized in manufacturing offer outstanding abrasion resistance (in line with EN 388 level 4). Additional features include superior anti-slip properties and an excellent fit to the hand for enhanced user comfort. Special fingertip stitching enables precise control of firearms, radios, and sensitive equipment.

Waterproof, windproof and breathable HiPora membrane

Featuring a state-of-the-art HiPora membrane, these gloves deliver complete waterproofness and windproofness. In addition to these protective qualities, they offer excellent breathability, efficiently wicking away excess moisture and ensuring optimal air circulation. The membrane's flexible fabric grants unrestricted freedom of movement.

PrimaLoft Gold fill with a grammage of 100 g/m2

The PrimaLoft Gold synthetic insulation, weighing 100 g/m2, delivers reliable warmth to the hands and ensures superior thermal comfort even in adverse weather. Outstanding breathability allows effective moisture management, preventing hand overheating inside the gloves.

Equipped with hydrophobic qualities, the insulation maintains its thermal performance even when damp, making these gloves an excellent option for variable and challenging weather conditions.

Internal protector and elastic welt

A broadened cuff featuring an internal protector delivers effective abrasion resistance to the upper hand. Elastic welts provide an excellent, secure fit around the wrists, while convenient straps facilitate quick and easy donning and removal of the gloves.

ANSI/ISEA 105-XA9X, EN388-4X43FP, EN511-221, and ANSI/ISEA 138 standards

The gloves adhere to the American protective standard ANSI/ISEA 105 at level XA9X for resistance against cuts, abrasion, and punctures, meaning:

  • X: abrasion resistance (scale ranges from 1 to 6)
  • A9: cut resistance (scale ranges from A1 to A9)
  • X: puncture resistance (scale ranges from 0 to 5)

The gloves comply with the EN388 protective standard at level 4X43FP for mechanical hazard protection, indicating:

  • 4: abrasion resistance (scale 0–4)
  • X: cut resistance (scale 0–5)
  • 4: tear resistance (scale 0–4)
  • 3: puncture resistance (scale 0–4)
  • F: cut resistance – TDM test (ISO 13997) (scale A–F)
  • P: impact protection (passes test)

Cold protection is certified under EN511 level 221, signifying:

  • 2: resistance to convective cold (scale 0–4)
  • 2: resistance to contact cold (scale 0–4)
  • 1: resistance to water penetration (0 = penetration, 1 = no penetration)

The gloves conform to the ANSI/ISEA 138 standard at level 2 in terms of impact energy absorption capability, signifying:

  • 1: basic impact protection
  • 2: medium protection level
  • 3: high protection level

Within the ANSI/ISEA 105 standard, abrasion resistance is measured on a scale from 1 to 6 and indicates the number of abrasion cycles material can withstand before wear. Cut resistance ranges on a scale from A1 to A9 (lowest to highest protection). Puncture resistance is rated from 0 to 5, reflecting the force needed to pierce the glove surface with a sharp probe (excluding needle punctures).

Defined protection levels in EN388 and EN511 standards are as follows: 0 signifies no protection, while the maximum scores (4 or 5) represent the greatest resistance. Water resistance: 0 = penetration, 1 = no penetration.

For the TDM test method (ISO 13997), letter designations apply, with A denoting the lowest protection and F signifying the highest.

Impact protection assessment relies on the transmitted force (kN) during impact testing. A lower transmitted force equates to greater glove protection.

The symbol X indicates the parameter was not evaluated or is not applicable. The symbol P denotes that the glove satisfies impact protection criteria.

PrimaLoft feature
PrimaLoft

PrimaLoft is a synthetic microfiber insulation material developed in the 1980s for the US military. It is composed of properly formed polyester microfibers that trap air inside, creating an insulating barrier with high compression capabilities. It features good water repellency (retains 96% of its properties when wet), windproofness, breathability and anti-allergenic properties.

DuraHide DRY feature
DuraHide DRY

Durahide DRY is a technology that uses specially treated Durahide natural leather. The treatment makes the leather waterproof while maintaining high breathability and flexibility.

HPPE feature
HPPE

HPPE (High Performance Polyethylene) is a lightweight, durable material resistant to abrasion and cuts. Used in safety gloves and workwear, among other applications, it combines high mechanical resistance with flexibility and wearing comfort.

Hipora feature
Hipora

Hipora is a high-quality, waterproof and breathable layer used in gloves, protective clothing and footwear. It is composed of a microporous structure that effectively blocks water penetration from the outside, while allowing moisture and perspiration to escape from the inside, keeping you comfortable and dry. Hipora® is often used in products designed for harsh weather conditions such as rain or snow, offering excellent moisture protection while maintaining the breathability of the material.

The gloves retain heat relatively well. The downside is that they are stiff and after taking them off in very cold conditions (-22.5°C), it’s very hard to warm your hands back up. In summary, as long as you don’t take off the gloves, they will keep you very warm.

The gloves don't withstand heavy work; they're okay for occasional use. Continuous use quickly destroys the supposedly durable material. The pluses are waterproofing and protectors. I won't rate the price as production costs might be high. However, this is not what I expected.

Great gloves, perfect for heavy work in the cold. They are waterproof so you don't have to worry about getting soaked while shoveling snow or skiing.

Great for heavy-duty work outdoors in bad weather conditions. They provide both thermal comfort and safety. A class of their own, the best glove brand.
