The gloves are very comfortable, 'soft', and offer quite good sensitivity for work as far as winter gloves with insulation go, but that's why my rating isn't higher. I'm used to Primaloft insulation and expected better warmth, so I was disappointed—they are too cold for me and not suitable for below zero temperatures. They ended up as emergency gloves in the car. I bought a warmer version.
Mechanix Wear ColdWork Winter Utility Tactical Gloves - Black
Tactical gloves featuring PrimaLoft Gold synthetic insulation. Engineered for operations in low-temperature environments. Deliver reliable protection from cold while shielding hands against abrasions and cuts. An ergonomic fit ensures optimal grip and full control.
Damage-resistant weaving, softshell material, touchscreen support
Constructed from lightweight yet robust fleece, the model ensures durability without sacrificing comfort. An additional layer of softshell fabric covers the upper section of the palm and fingers, offering reliable protection against both wind and moisture. The grip area features a material designed not only to shield against wet conditions, but also to support touchscreen operation.
Utilization of durable, windproof, and quick-drying materials ensures that these gloves are well-suited for diverse outdoor uses.
PrimaLoft Gold synthetic insulation for thermal comfort
The lightweight PrimaLoft Gold synthetic insulation delivers efficient warmth for your hands, ensuring optimal thermal comfort even in severe weather conditions. Outstanding breathability minimizes hand overheating inside the gloves.
Owing to its hydrophobic nature, the insulation maintains its thermal effectiveness even in damp conditions, making these gloves reliable in unpredictable climates. The upper section of the gloves utilizes insulating material with a weight of 40 g/m2, while the palm side incorporates insulation with a weight of 60 g/m2.
Elastic cuffs and snap buckle
Featuring elastic cuffs, the model ensures an excellent fit around the wrist. The inclusion of a practical snap buckle enables users to fasten the gloves together, significantly improving convenience during transport and storage.
EN388-3122X and EN511-11X standards
The gloves are certified to the EN388 standard at level 3122X for mechanical hazard protection, which denotes:
- 3: abrasion resistance (scale 0–4)
- 1: cut resistance (scale 0–5)
- 2: tear resistance (scale 0–4)
- 2: puncture resistance (scale 0–4)
- X: cut resistance according to the TDM test (ISO 13997) (scale A–F)
Cold weather protection aligns with the EN511 standard at level 11X, signifying:
- 1: convective cold resistance (scale 0–4)
- 1: contact cold resistance (scale 0–4)
- X: water penetration resistance (0 or 1)
The rating systems within EN388 and EN511 specify glove protection levels: 0 indicates the absence of protection, while values 4 and 5 represent maximum resistance. For water penetration, 0 means water permeates, 1 means impermeability.
Under the TDM test (ISO 13997), levels are marked with letters where A indicates the lowest protection and F the highest.
X designation signifies the parameter was either not assessed or does not apply.

Mechanix Wear ColdWork Winter Utility in black seems to be well made, provides good warmth, and fits comfortably and securely in the hand. The material looks durable, and the grip remains flawless even when it is cold. It is worth ordering a size larger.
-
Comfortable and very warm, but not too warm – they provide thermal comfort both at temperatures around 0°C and in severe frost of several degrees below zero. The touchscreen operation is surprisingly precise – big plus for this and for the clasp to bind them together. I definitely recommend them.

I had a problem with gloves. I was terribly cold in the chill. Even those that were theoretically thick couldn't handle longer walks with the dog. These Mechanix gloves worked really well today. Minus 2 degrees and strong wind. For over an hour, my hands were warm. Later it was worse, but I don't expect miracles. As for durability, it's hard to say, but it's Mechanix. If anything, there's the warranty. They fit very well, the finger sensitivity is also at a good level. I'm glad I found them!

I definitely recommend it. I also recommend having an account with KSK Platinum. Fast, free exchange of goods, practically 0 PLN shipping from any order value, and a 30% discount for KSK points. Thanks to these benefits, my entire family is equipped with Mechanix Wear ColdWork Winter Utility tactical gloves - Black (four pairs). In previous reviews, I described the advantages of these gloves in detail, but one review of a similar model points out that you shouldn't treat them as tactical gloves, contrary to what their name suggests. When I bought the first pair based on the description and photo, it was clear to me that they are not suitable for carrying wood. I use them for mountain tourism, and both I and my family are very satisfied.

I definitely recommend it. After winter tests, it was time for a second pair for my wife. I like the cold, so for me these are very warm gloves. Test: 10 km walk at minus 8°C, light tourist clothing, so I wouldn't sweat - and I didn't sweat, but I did get a bit cold, yet my hands stayed nice and warm. The PrimaLoft insulation used is the best available on the market, so it has to work. However, I want to point out that with winter gear such as sleeping bags, jackets, sweatshirts, socks, shoes, hats, or gloves, the thermal performance of these products is a very individual and subjective matter for each user.

The gloves are not for extremely low temperatures, but they are comfortable around zero degrees. Pleasant material, good fit. They should last. They serve their purpose.
-
Good gloves. Due to the lack of protective layers, they go well with civilian clothing. They insulate well as long as there isn't strong wind. Unfortunately, they lack a membrane for such occasions.
-
I bought the gloves in December 2024 and my hands haven't felt cold since. They are good gloves for outdoor work. I don't know if they'll work well during severe frosts because we haven't had any yet, but in temperatures around 3-4 degrees Celsius they perform excellently. I recommend them.
-
I definitely recommend it. I didn't choose these gloves based on the description, and the reviews of a similar model didn't seem substantive, so why? The PrimaLoft insulation used is the best available on the market (the quality of this material is like original Polartec or Gore-Tex). If gloves like these were made by top alpine or ski-touring equipment brands, they'd cost at least 200 PLN. So this Mechanix model feels almost like getting them for free.
