User-friendly, safe, and highly effective waterproofing solution for fleece gear. Provides long-lasting water repellency, minimizes weight increase, and preserves both breathability and insulation efficiency of fleece in wet conditions.
While individual fibers in fleece resist water absorption, moisture can infiltrate the gaps between them. Water build-up compromises the fleece’s insulation capabilities and leads to added weight; fleece may retain water up to half of its own mass! Such conditions impact comfort, causing dampness and chills, but more critically, diminished insulation can be hazardous and, in severe cases, cause hypothermia.
Nikwax Polar Proof® has been engineered specifically for fleece apparel: a flexible hydrophobic layer forms around individual fibers, enabling moisture vapor to escape and ensuring breathability and top performance in wet weather. It also reduces pilling of fleece fibers, prolonging the garment’s durability.
Application through the washing machine guarantees comprehensive treatment of the garment. Durable water repellency (DWR) is activated when drying in air.
Nikwax maintenance and waterproofing products use a water-based formula, contain zero aerosols, are non-flammable, safe, and environmentally responsible. They are free from hazardous solvents and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and contain no fluorocarbon hydrocarbons, compounds known for environmental persistence and health risks.
