I think this is an excellent version of Opinel, especially since the handle doesn't swell like the beech one. In the kitchen, it cuts perfectly, of course, only the small things, not bones, but I'm satisfied and recommend it.
An ultra-lightweight folding knife from the Slim series, featuring a 10-centimeter locking blade. A renowned design from the French manufacturer, backed by more than a century of tradition.
The Trailing Point blade profile is constructed from Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel and finished with a polished high-gloss surface. Flat-full grind nearly down to a zero edge, together with a slender blade thickness, deliver outstanding slicing performance. Ideally suited for filleting tasks.
Blade deployment is enabled via a nail nick, reminiscent of the opening system found on Victorinox pocket knives. In the open position, the blade is secured by the patented Viroblock lock introduced in 1955—a steel collar around the handle at the blade pivot. Rotation of the ring covers the blade slot in the handle, fully immobilizing the blade. The same lock also prevents unintended opening in the closed position.
The handle is crafted from African Padauk wood and sealed with a clear, durable, abrasion-resistant lacquer. Ergonomically contoured for a secure and comfortable grip, the handle offers exceptional modifiability. Users can easily drill a hole for a lanyard or personalize the grip by carving or staining the wood to a preferred finish.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

Very long and very slim. The wooden handle seems to dominate the blade. A very practical model, not small but light. The blade geometry makes it a handy scalpel. The blade is a bit too thin for my taste, but that was probably the designer's intention. It cuts very well and precisely. You won't cut down trees with it, but you can do everything else very well. The only downside – the locking ring is a bit tight to move. I recommend it, especially if you haven't held one yet and are wondering. After modifying the handle – profiling and color – it looks very impressive.

My first Opinel knife and definitely not the last. Very nice and sharp

Beauty lies in simplicity, everything fits perfectly, the knife is sharp and simply beautiful, the next one will be Carbon no.8

The knife is great. Extremely sharp and very handy. Unfortunately, this sharpness is also its downside - I have already cut myself several times just by touching both the blade and its tip. Without any special pressure. Its downside is the blade locking system by twisting the ring. The ring has a completely smooth surface, is very tightly fitted, and I have very dry skin on my fingers. In summary - it's only convenient for me to turn the ring while wearing gloves. So the knife will go into the display case.

Super! I recommend this version of Opinel. It's not as sharp as the carbon versions but, on the other hand, it isn't susceptible to corrosion :)

Good and sharp knife

When we hear the name Opinel, it's obvious it will be sharp, and that's the case here: solid, sharp, ideal for slicing food, I recommend it.

Very nice little knife. Useful for preparing meals and small tasks. It looks stylish.
-
I bought it mainly for use with food while camping, sailing, and fishing. Sharp and light. The blade is long, so you can cut bread, and its shape allows you to use its entire length. For heavier tasks, I recommend an Opinel with a classic blade.

I've never been disappointed with this brand. The knife fits perfectly in the hand, making work very pleasant and precise. Its sharpness and the steel's low susceptibility to different types of corrosion are big advantages. It's great for EDC, camping, or different household models—for this price, I won't find better quality. I recommend it to everyone.
