Real Steel Marlin Fixed Blade Knife by Ostap Hel - Silver

A knife featuring a full-tang design, meaning the tang extends the entire length of the handle, measuring 162 mm and equipped with a Drop-Point blade shape. Crafted from 8Cr14MoV steel, the blade offers excellent strength and resistance to abrasion. The openwork handle is distinguished by three drilled holes. Designed by Polish designer Ostap Hel.

Polish project

Ostap Hel stands out as a respected Polish knife designer, recognized for a distinctive and contemporary style. His creations are notable for their well-balanced proportions, smooth contours, and meticulous craftsmanship, ensuring excellent user comfort. He develops original designs and partners with renowned manufacturers such as WE Knife and Bestech Knives.

8Cr14MoV stainless steel

Forged from 8Cr14MoV stainless steel, the blades deliver an optimal combination of edge retention, resistance to corrosion, and ease of sharpening. When subjected to proper heat treatment, the steel attains a hardness of 57-59 HRC.

Drop-Point blade profile

Featuring a Drop-Point blade profile, this knife is engineered to deliver exceptional strength at the blade tip. The design excels in outdoor and EDC use, offering an ideal blend of piercing performance and precise blade handling. Jimping, or serrations, provide a reliable thumb rest, enhancing grip and precision control during cutting tasks. Thanks to the flat grind, the cutting ability is highly efficient. The stonewash finish gives the surface an uneven texture, effectively concealing scratches that occur with regular use.

Full Tang Construction

Engineered with a Full Tang design, the knife features both blade and handle crafted from a single steel piece, ensuring superior durability and balance. The skeletonized handle incorporates three holes, effectively minimizing the overall weight of the tool.

Main features

  • 8Cr14MoV stainless steel ensures durability and resistance to corrosion.
  • Drop-point blade design delivers optimal control and versatility.

8Cr14MoV (8Cr14) feature
8Cr14MoV (8Cr14)
8Cr14MoV (8Cr14) steel is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel of Chinese origin, one of the most popular grades among medium-grade knife steels. The steel contains approximately 0.75-0.8% carbon, which ensures the hardness and durability of the cutting edge. Chromium (13.5-14%) is responsible for corrosion resistance and structural stability, while molybdenum (0.2-0.25%) increases abrasion resistance and improves hardening properties. Vanadium (0.1-0.15%) refines the grain, making the edge more uniform and resistant to microdamage. After proper heat treatment, 8Cr14MoV can achieve a hardness of 58-60 HRC, and in precision-hardened versions even above 60 HRC. This steel provides good edge retention, easy sharpening, and high resistance to moisture, and is used in EDC, tactical, and kitchen knives.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
