Percussion caps with a 4 mm diameter, designed for black powder firearms equipped with percussion locks, manufactured by the Czech brand Sellier & Bellot. Suitable for use in a range of black powder revolvers and pistols.

Each box includes 100 caps.

Historical Outline

Percussion locks first appeared in the 19th century. Firearms featuring this locking mechanism rapidly superseded earlier variants utilizing flint locks. Contributing factors to this transition included a significantly reduced risk of misfires, enhanced performance in unfavorable weather conditions, and a simpler loading process in comparison to flint locks.

Method of use

To load a black powder firearm, begin by pouring black powder into the barrel or chamber, followed by inserting the wad and projectile. Next, fit the percussion cap onto the nipple to prepare the firearm for firing. Upon pulling the trigger, the hammer strikes the cap, producing ignition. The subsequent flame travels through the nipple into the chamber containing black powder, propelling the bullet or projectile from the barrel.

In accordance with the Weapons and Ammunition Act, replicas of black powder firearms produced before 1885 can be legally acquired in Poland without a permit. Purchasing accessories offered for black powder firearms, including caps, does not require any permit.

    Definitely better than RWS for revolvers, they fit better on the nipples and I fired about 400 shots with these caps and never had a misfire. Although, in my experience, already fired caps jam my Remington 1858 just as often as RWS, but that's more a flaw of the revolver than the caps, so I’m not deducting stars for that.

    Once, when I had a Remington, I thought they were worse than RWS because they were looser and tended to fall off. Later, I understood that it's about choosing the right primers for specific nipples. It turned out that SB are better for Colt Navy, Derringers, and Pedersoli shotguns.

    Perfect for Uberti Remington nipples. No jams, drop nicely, trouble-free. If you have Uberti, it's the best choice. Compared to RWS or Remington, S&B are the best.
