Salewa Brenta RDS Down Vest - Black Out
Insulated vest in Black Out colour. The sleeveless design provides thermal insulation for the torso while also not restricting arm movement. This makes the model suitable for trekking, walks, and other outdoor activities, as well as an additional clothing layer on cold days.
Thermal comfort is provided by natural duck down with a fill power of 550 cuin and a ratio of 80/20. The outer Rip-Stop weave nylon with a grammage of 41 g/m2 has been coated with a hydrophobic PFAS-free DWR finish, which reduces the impact of snow, light rain, and damp air.
RDS-certified insulation
The filling consists of duck down with a composition of 80% down and 20% feathers. A fill power of 550 cuin indicates the down's ability to regain its loft after compression. The filling creates a space that traps warmed air and reduces heat loss from the torso area.
The use of natural down provides a favourable insulation-to-weight ratio. The vest can be easily packed into a backpack, bag, or luggage, and once unpacked the filling regains its loft. The down is marked with the RDS certificate, which confirms compliance with requirements for the sourcing of down and feathers and animal welfare.
PFAS-free Rip-Stop nylon, quilted construction
The outer and inner layers are made of nylon with a Rip-Stop weave and a grammage of 41 g/m2. The material is lightweight, and the reinforcing fibre layout used reduces the risk of any tears spreading. The fabric does not contain harmful PFAS compounds. Both the outer and inner layers contain 58% recycled nylon.
The filling is distributed in quilted chambers. The stitching stabilises the down and limits its shifting during use. This helps maintain an even distribution of insulation across the front and back of the vest.
The chambers create a segmented construction, the layout of which supports the retention of warmed air while also preserving the flexibility of the material. The quilting reduces the risk of down gathering in one place and helps maintain consistent thermal properties.
Hydrophobic DWR finish
The outer material is coated with a PFAS-free DWR hydrophobic finish. The finish reduces wetting of the fabric surface, so water droplets remain on the outside and run off the material more easily instead of quickly penetrating its structure. The coating supports protection against light rain, snow, damp air, or accidental splashes.
2 practical pockets
On the sides there are 2 pockets fastened with zippers. They provide a secure place for a phone, keys, documents, gloves, and other small items. The pockets can also be used to warm your hands. The zippers reduce the risk of the carried contents falling out.
elastic binding, high collar
The high collar protects the neck from the cold. The lower edge of the vest and the arm openings are finished with elastic binding. They adapt to the body shape and reduce the formation of gaps through which cold air could get in.

DWR (Durable Water Repellency) is a durable waterproofing treatment that increases the surface tension of water and creates a hydrophobic coating on materials. It protects the material from rapid soaking, improves drying, provides stain resistance and increases breathability.
Rip-Stop weave protects the fabric from abrasions and tears. It is characterized by additional threads woven in at regular intervals, forming a mesh-like pattern. It provides high strength to the fabric, increases resistance to mechanical damage, especially tears.
