The telescope is superbly made, finished, and refined. The image quality is exceptional; this is absolutely not a toy, and you can already delve into astronomy with it in a very professional way. I recommend it, proven and tested.
Sky-Watcher BK 1149 EQ1 Telescope 114/900
Newtonian reflector telescope designed for people looking for portable equipment for observing the Moon, planets and brighter deep-sky objects. The 114 mm aperture and 900 mm focal length make it possible to observe in urban conditions and beyond them, under suitably dark skies.
The design offers a moderate lens speed of f/7.9, which is why it can be used both for observing Solar System objects and bright star clusters, nebulae or galaxies. The telescope gathers up to 265 times more light than the human eye, and its stellar reach is 12.9 magnitude. This makes it possible to observe objects much fainter than those visible to the naked eye.
Newtonian optical system
The model uses a reflector Newtonian system. The primary mirror with a diameter of 114 mm collects light and directs it to the eyepiece through the secondary mirror. This design makes it possible to achieve a large aperture in a relatively compact tube with a length of 880 mm and a diameter of 120 mm. The resolving power according to the Rayleigh criterion is 1.25", and according to the Dawes criterion 1.02". These parameters define the ability to resolve closely spaced objects, for example double stars, in favourable observing conditions.
The 114 mm aperture makes it possible to observe details of the Moon's surface, including craters or shadows at the boundary between day and night. In the case of planets, it is possible to see, among other things, the phases of Venus, the disc of Mars, the equatorial bands of Jupiter, the four largest Galilean moons and the rings of Saturn. It is also possible to observe Uranus and Neptune as small points or discs, depending on conditions and the magnification used.
eyepieces and Barlow lens
The telescope is equipped with a 1.25" Rack-and-Pinion focuser. This standard allows the use of widely available eyepieces and astronomical accessories with a 1.25" barrel diameter, which makes it possible to expand the set with additional optics.
The set includes eyepieces with focal lengths of 25 mm and 10 mm providing magnifications of 36x and 90x respectively. The included 2x Barlow lens doubles the effective magnification of the eyepiece used, making it possible to achieve 72x and 180x. The telescope's maximum useful magnification is 228x.
EQ1 equatorial mount
The tube is mounted on an EQ1 equatorial mount. After proper alignment of the mount axis toward the north celestial pole, it enables tracking the apparent movement of objects across the sky using movement on a single axis. This is particularly useful when observing at higher magnification.
The mount is equipped with slow-motion control knobs for precise adjustment on the right ascension and declination axes. They make it easier to point the telescope at an object based on a sky map or astronomical atlas, as well as to keep it in the field of view. The 2 kg counterweight makes it possible to balance the tube on the mount, which improves smoothness of adjustment and stability during observation.
aluminium tripod
The mount is placed on an adjustable aluminium tripod. The tripod provides stable positioning of the equipment, and the central tray additionally stiffens the structure and provides space for eyepieces or small accessories. Tripod height adjustment makes it possible to adapt the observing position to the user and the height of the observed object.

Sky-Watcher is a brand created in 1999 by Taiwan's Synta Technology Corporation, which is now the world's largest manufacturer of amateur astronomy equipment. Its range includes telescopes from simple models for beginners to advanced designs such as ED refractors, Esprit astrographs, and Maksutov systems. Dobsonian telescopes are especially popular, including iconic models with mirror diameters of up to 16 inches, as well as professional EQ8 equatorial mounts valued by astrophotographers. Since 2008, the company has been developing innovative Flex Tube Dobsonian telescopes with an extendable tube, which have become a distinctive symbol of Sky-Watcher in the world of astronomy.
