It's my first radio so I have no comparison, but the 10W power is really effective—I had a range of 20–25 km to the repeater and connected without any problem. Someone above wrote that charging is via the C port, but that's not the case—probably never had the radio in hand and is reviewing, or mixed up the radios. In the technical data description, it says the radio does not have an automatic channel scan function, which is not true because it does have automatic channel scanning.
Tytte Tyt radiotelephone pmr 3200 mAh
The TH-UV98 is a dual-band handheld radio delivering up to 10 watts of power. Equipped with a DTMF keypad, the device boasts a dual LCD screen with a white backlight, along with an integrated flashlight and FM radio.
Dual Watch function, CTCSS and DCS tones
Dual Watch stands out as a key function, enabling users to listen to two channels simultaneously. This feature allows for the surveillance of two separate frequencies, automatically prioritizing the one with an active incoming transmission. The TH-UV98 radio comes equipped with CTCSS and DCS as well as basic encryption capabilities – scrambler.
Kenwood connector, programming capability
The radio comes with a PTT (push-to-talk) button and utilizes a Kenwood type connector, making it compatible with headsets featuring a microphone, dedicated micro speakers, or shooting hearing protection. An antenna connector in the SMA-M standard is used for reliable communication. Programming can be done directly from the keypad or via a computer with a USB cable (not included). The TH-UV98 is also compatible with cables for the Baofeng UV-5R and Baofeng UV-82 radios. Enhanced software provides extensive functionalities for grouping and easy identification. The VOX mode enables voice-activated transmission, eliminating the need to press the PTT button.
FM radio
Equipped with FM radio capability, the TH-UV98 model is engineered to continue channel monitoring even while utilizing the FM feature. Upon receiving an incoming call, the radio will automatically pause the FM function to ensure you never miss important transmissions.
Battery power
Powered by a robust lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3200 mAh.
Warning!
Operating the radio within a radio communication network requires obtaining a license.

This is my first radio so I don't have a comparison, I've just started playing with it, but what I've noticed for sure is the battery is a big plus, the menu is easy and clear, it fits well in the hand, not too big, not too small, oh and most importantly the technical data says it doesn't have channel scanning, but in reality this function is in the menu and it's in the first place.

I have already bought 5 of these models and I am really satisfied. The battery life is really great, and the range is decent. It's worth getting a larger antenna because the basic one is quite short and therefore limits the potential of this device.

Very good radio, a nice alternative if someone doesn't want a Baofeng. On the plus side, a lot of power and an efficient battery charged via USB-C.

For me, it's all positives, sincerely recommended.
