An authentic reproduction of one of the most iconic percussion-cap revolvers in history, first crafted by the famed American manufacturer Remington. The 1858 New Army model is a classic 6-shot percussion-cap black powder revolver featuring a closed steel frame, loaded from the muzzle.

Constructed from forged steel with a black oxide finish, this revolver is fitted with an 8-inch, .44 caliber barrel produced by the distinguished German company Lothar-Walther with a 450 mm rifling twist. The sighting system incorporates a fixed front and rear sight. The handle is crafted from walnut wood, while the trigger guard is made of brass.

Essential components of the revolver—the spindle, cylinder face, and rear of the frame—feature a Teflon coating that protects against fouling accumulation.

The firearm employs a Single Action trigger operation, requiring manual cocking of the hammer before each shot. The hammer mechanism is designed with two positions: a half-cock for safely placing percussion caps and a full-cock for firing.

Engineered with a hinged loading lever (plunger) beneath the barrel, the mechanism facilitates consistent seating of lead projectiles into the cylinder chambers.

Introducing a closed frame to the revolver world, this design offered greater reliability and strength compared to the open-frame Colts. Enthusiastically received by soldiers, the model became so coveted that multiple Colts were often traded for a Remington New Army.

The principal strength of the Remington revolver lay in its robustness. In comparison, while aesthetically pleasing, Colt models frequently lacked the necessary durability and toughness, particularly in combat situations.

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Uberti.

Uberti is an Italian manufacturer of historical firearm replicas, founded in 1959 in Gardone Val Trompia by Aldo Uberti. The company is famous for its faithful reproductions of revolvers, rifles, and shotguns from the Civil War and the Wild West, which, thanks to modern materials, often surpass the originals in terms of quality. Its replicas have appeared in Sergio Leone's cult westerns, such as “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Once Upon a Time in the West,” as well as in “Dances with Wolves” starring Kevin Costner. Today, Uberti products are prized by collectors and used in Cowboy Action Shooting competitions, where both authenticity and reliability of the weapon are important.

The barrel is of very good quality, accurate, the frame seems to be milled and not cast. The fitting is fine, with no problems with timing. The grips are of average quality.

I bought a Remington at the Militaria stationary store quite a few years ago. The barrel has seen many bullets, and the cylinder has burned a lot of powder. The gun is still functional and looks just as attractive as on the day it was purchased. I haven't had any problems with it; Uberti's workmanship is top-notch. Deep rifling in the barrel is a big plus. Additionally, black powder revolvers retain their value well. I recommend it to enthusiasts!
