Uberti Cattleman 1873 Bird's Head Black Powder Revolver .44 3.5"
Faithful reproduction of one of history’s most iconic revolvers, initially produced by the American firearms manufacturer Colt and directly based on the renowned 1873 Single Action Army model. The Cattleman variant features a 6-round cylinder, utilizes percussion caps with black powder, and is loaded from the muzzle.
Construction and materials
Outfitted with a 3.5-inch barrel chambered in.44 caliber, the revolver is constructed from forged steel—including the framework, trigger guard, and grip—all finished in a blued black coating. This treatment enhances corrosion resistance while evoking the timeless appeal of classic period firearms.
Ergonomics and aiming
Equipped with a fixed front sight and rear sight that conform to historical sighting device standards, the revolver also features Bird's Head style grip scales crafted from walnut wood, offering an ergonomic fit and highlighting the classic character of the revolver.
Historical outline
Model 1873 Cattleman is a firearm closely modeled after the original Colt design, the legendary and best-selling revolver that once dominated the streets of Dodge City, Kansas. The primary distinction lies in the use of separate powder, bullet, and primer loads instead of unitary cartridges. Initially produced for Bat Masterson of the Long Branch Saloon in Dodge City, the revolver soon earned widespread acclaim among lawmen, ranchers, mercenaries, bounty hunters, and outlaws across the storied "Wild West."

Uberti is an Italian manufacturer of historical firearm replicas, founded in 1959 in Gardone Val Trompia by Aldo Uberti. The company is famous for its faithful reproductions of revolvers, rifles, and shotguns from the Civil War and the Wild West, which, thanks to modern materials, often surpass the originals in terms of quality. Its replicas have appeared in Sergio Leone's cult westerns, such as “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Once Upon a Time in the West,” as well as in “Dances with Wolves” starring Kevin Costner. Today, Uberti products are prized by collectors and used in Cowboy Action Shooting competitions, where both authenticity and reliability of the weapon are important.

Wonderful equipment. Amazing appearance. It's so beautiful that it's a shame to use it. For now, it's pleasing to the eye, but eventually it will have to be tested. After removing the case ejector, replacing the cylinder is no trouble at all.

At first glance, the revolver makes a big impression. Its 3.5" size makes it more handy. Compared to Remington revolvers, it has a more complicated structure, which may make disassembly for cleaning more difficult, but the cylinder’s design reduces cap jams. I recommend using Conical-type ammunition with it.

The revolver makes a great impression right after receiving it. It's very easy to use and handy due to its size. The grip is a bit slippery, so I recommend using gloves for shooting. Very good equipment.
