BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Company) is a British brand with one of the richest histories in the firearms industry: founded in 1861 in Birmingham as a consortium of gunsmiths, it produced Lee-Enfield rifles for the British Army at a rate of 10,000 units per week through two World Wars. Today, BSA Guns Ltd operates as a manufacturer of premium air rifles and airguns, proudly made in Birmingham, exporting over half of its production to markets worldwide. A brand combining 160 years of tradition with modern engineering precision.

160 Years of History: From Lee-Enfield Rifles to PCP

Birmingham Small Arms Company was founded in 1861 with a precise objective: to mechanize military arms production in order to match and outcompete the growing output of the government factory at Enfield. On a 25-acre site in Small Heath, a factory was built that within a few years became the largest private arms manufacturer in Great Britain. During both World Wars, BSA produced Lee-Enfield rifles at scale: at peak output, 28,000 workers across 67 facilities manufactured combat equipment for the entire British Army and its allies. After the wars, the company redirected production toward air rifles and BSA motorcycles (a separate brand), building a new reputation in the sporting segment.

Spring-Powered Air Rifles: Heritage and New Models

BSA is one of the most respected manufacturers of spring-powered air rifles in Europe. Classic models such as the AirSporter (since 1948), Meteor (since 1959), and Supersport are icons of British airgun shooting, many of which are still produced in Birminghamshire to this day. The newer spring models — the Comet SE and Scorpion — were designed with training and pest control in mind, each bearing the iconic stamp "BSA Guns - Made in Birmingham, England" on every barrel. Every barrel undergoes rigorous geometric tolerance testing before leaving the factory.

PCP Air Rifles: Modern Precision

BSA Guns is also one of the pioneers and market leaders in PCP (Pre-Charged Pneumatic) air rifles in Europe. The R-Ten series, Scorpion SE, and other PCP models deliver exceptional accuracy and consistency, trusted by professional hunters, pest controllers, and target shooters demanding absolute precision at any distance. Adjustable triggers, rotary magazines, and ergonomic stocks place BSA PCP rifles among the best on the market — with a distinctly British approach to build quality.
