Alpinus Merino Wanaka Jacket - Black

A black light jacket designed for use during the transitional season - in spring, autumn, and on cool and windy days. It combines low weight, a compact design, and effective wind protection with hybrid insulation containing Merino wool.

The lightweight design ensures comfort during everyday use and outdoor activities. This model is suitable for walks, trekking, tourism, running in cooler conditions, or cycling. The subdued colour scheme and minimalist form make it easy to match with outdoor and urban clothing.

The outer fabric and lining are made of 100% nylon using Rip-Stop technology. The material is light and smooth, while also reinforced with a characteristic weave that reduces the risk of accidental tears spreading.

Rip-Stop increases the jacket's resistance to mechanical damage and abrasion. Densely woven nylon reduces the penetration of cold gusts and provides wind protection. The material also protects against light moisture such as morning mist, dew, or light drizzle.

The jacket is equipped with hybrid insulation with a grammage of 60 g/m2 containing 50% Merino wool and 50% polyester. The combination of natural and synthetic fibres made it possible to achieve a light, functional insulating layer intended for active use.

Thin Merino fibres create microscopic air spaces that help maintain thermal comfort without significantly increasing the jacket's weight. In cooler conditions, the insulation helps retain heat close to the body, while during movement it supports moisture vapour transfer and reduces the risk of overheating.

Merino wool is valued for its thermoregulating properties and reducing the formation of unpleasant odours. The addition of polyester increases the durability of the insulation and helps maintain its proper structure.

Wanaka is equipped with 3 zippered pockets:

• 2 outer side pockets
• 1 inner pocket

Side pockets provide space for small accessories such as keys, tissues, or small personal items. Their closure reduces the risk of accidentally losing the contents while walking or running.

The inner pocket allows you to safely store a phone, documents, a wallet, or other items requiring additional protection.

The jacket uses durable zippers from the renowned YKK brand. The main zipper runs from the lower edge of the jacket to the high stand-up collar. It is complemented by a chin guard protecting the chin.

The high stand-up collar shields the neck from cold and gusts of wind. When the main zipper is fastened, it creates an additional barrier in an area particularly exposed to heat loss.

The extended back provides better coverage for the lower back during movement. The lower edge of the jacket is equipped with an elastic drawstring with a cord lock. It allows the fit to be adjusted to the body shape and helps reduce drafts from below.

The sleeves are finished with elastic cuffs that adapt to the wrists and limit the entry of cold air. Their design improves comfort during activity and makes it easier to wear the jacket under an outer rain layer or a hardshell.

The jacket has a light, uniform design with subtle quilting in selected areas. This solution helps keep the insulation in the right place, while maintaining a smooth, minimalist form.

Low weight and compressibility make transport easier. Wanaka can be stored in a backpack as an additional layer in case of colder weather or used during travel when limiting luggage volume matters.
