Bestech Knives Tardis Folding Knife by Ostap Hel - Two-Tone/Black Sky Blue

A folding knife measuring a total of 195 mm in length, equipped with a blade measuring 80 mm and featuring a Cleaver profile. Crafted from D2 tool steel, the blade delivers outstanding resistance against wear and chipping. Engineered with a flat grind and completed with a black satin matte finish, the blade excels in both performance and aesthetics. The handle is fitted with a Liner Lock mechanism and outfitted with G10 laminate scales in a light blue shade. Designed by the renowned Polish knifemaker Ostap Hel.

Polish project

Ostap Hel is a respected Polish knife designer recognized for his signature, modern aesthetics. His creations stand out with balanced proportions, smooth contours, and meticulous attention to detail, which enhance user comfort. He designs original models as well as partners with renowned brands such as WE Knife and Bestech Knives.

D2 tool steel

Constructed from D2 tool steel, the blade is recognized for its exceptional wear resistance and lasting sharpness. Featuring a high-carbon composition with significant chromium content, D2 forms numerous tough carbides that deliver superior edge retention, especially when tackling challenging tasks. While D2 ensures reliable edge stability, its impact toughness is moderate, making it ideal for slicing applications rather than strenuous prying.

Cleaver profile blade, flat grind, PVD coating

Featuring a blade with a Cleaver profile, this design delivers outstanding control and efficiency, especially for tasks along long surfaces. The distinctively large and tall shape enhances stability, simplifies blade guidance, and enables highly accurate, repeatable cuts. An expansive flat section on the blade facilitates easy carrying and efficient scooping. A shortened, "cut" blade front maximizes safety and reinforces the tip, greatly minimizing the risk of damage during demanding use. Ideally suited for EDC and utility operations, this profile ensures stability, robust cutting power, and absolute blade control. Jimping (serrations) on the blade spine offer a stable thumb placement, further boosting handling and precision during cutting.

The Tardis model utilizes a flat grind that ensures excellent cutting performance, minimal resistance, and reliable stability throughout the cut. A durable black PVD coating is applied to the blade, providing superior scratch resistance. This coating also offers extra protection against corrosion and helps eliminate unwanted light reflections.

G10 laminate handle

Featuring an ergonomically shaped handle, the scales are crafted from highly durable and weather-resistant G10 laminate. A dedicated finger groove adds extra protection against your hand slipping onto the blade.

Liner Lock, spring-loaded clip

Deployment is executed with an ambidextrous thumb stud, and action is made exceptionally smooth due to the incorporation of a ceramic ball bearing at the main pivot. A robust Liner Lock mechanism reliably secures the blade when open.

A flexible steel deep-carry clip (tip-up, right-side carry) provides comfortable portability, making the knife easy to attach to a belt or pocket edge.

D2 feature
D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition feature
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating is a modern technology for applying ultra-thin layers of metal in a vacuum, which significantly increases the durability of knives. Thanks to this, the blade becomes highly resistant to scratches, abrasion, and corrosion, while gaining a matte surface that reduces glare. This process allows for aesthetic finishes in various colors, from deep black to gold, which do not wear off like classic paint. As a result, the knife retains its great appearance and full functionality even with intensive use.

Quite a pleasant razor, surprisingly more practical shape than it might seem. Nice, vibrant neon color scheme and good performance. I see this knife staying in my pocket for a long time.
