Polish project

Ostap Hel is a respected Polish knife designer recognized for his distinctive, contemporary style. His creations are marked by balanced proportions, smooth contours, and meticulous attention to detail, all contributing to exceptional user comfort. He develops original models and works in partnership with renowned brands such as WE Knife and Bestech Knives.

D2 tool steel

Forged from D2 tool steel, the blade excels in exceptional wear resistance and offers long-term sharpness. Featuring a blend of high carbon and elevated chromium levels, the steel produces abundant hard carbides, which provide superb edge retention, especially when tackling tough materials. While D2 ensures solid edge stability, its impact toughness remains moderate, making it highly effective for slicing and cutting tasks, rather than for heavy-duty prying.

Cleaver profile blade, flat grind, PVD coating

Engineered for optimal cutting control and efficiency along extended cuts, the blade with a Cleaver profile offers a distinctive, high and wide shape that ensures outstanding stability and simplified blade guidance, enabling precise and consistent cuts. The expansive flat surface is ideal for comfortable transport and effective scooping. Featuring a shortened and "cut" front edge, the blade’s design enhances user safety and reinforces the tip, helping to prevent damage during rigorous use. Especially suited for EDC and utility work, this profile excels where stability, powerful slicing performance, and precise control are required. Jimping (serrations) along the spine delivers a secure thumb rest, further boosting control and handling during tasks.

The Tardis model utilizes a flat grind that offers excellent cutting characteristics, reduced resistance, and reliable stability during use. A black PVD coating, known for its superior scratch resistance, shields the blade and provides an added layer of protection against corrosion while minimizing unwanted reflections.

G10 laminate handle

The ergonomically shaped handle scales are crafted from G10 laminate, offering both mechanical durability and resistance to environmental factors. A dedicated finger groove enhances grip security, preventing the hand from sliding onto the blade.

Liner Lock, spring-loaded clip

Deployment of the knife is facilitated via an ambidextrous thumb stud, with a ceramic ball bearing integrated into the main pivot for smoother action. Once opened, a dependable Liner Lock mechanism firmly holds the blade in place.

Effortless and secure carry is provided by a flexible steel deep-carry clip (tip-up, right-side), ensuring quick attachment to your belt or pocket edge.

D2 feature
D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition feature
PVD - Physical Vapor Deposition
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating is a modern technology for applying ultra-thin layers of metal in a vacuum, which significantly increases the durability of knives. Thanks to this, the blade becomes highly resistant to scratches, abrasion, and corrosion, while gaining a matte surface that reduces glare. This process allows for aesthetic finishes in various colors, from deep black to gold, which do not wear off like classic paint. As a result, the knife retains its great appearance and full functionality even with intensive use.

Quite a pleasant razor, surprisingly more practical shape than it might seem. Nice, vibrant neon color scheme and good performance. I see this knife staying in my pocket for a long time.
