Carinthia PRG 2.0 Jacket - MultiCam

Windproof jacket in MultiCam camouflage made from lightweight and durable polyamide. The model is equipped with a waterproof and breathable membrane and a deep hood. The loose fit does not restrict freedom of movement.

Gore-Tex membrane, ventilation openings on the sides

The jacket is equipped with a Gore-Tex membrane that provides waterproofness of 10 000 mm/m2. The membrane is vapor-permeable, which prevents excessive sweating. Thermal comfort is also ensured by ventilation openings on the sides, fastened with waterproof zippers.

Five practical pouches

The jacket has five practical pouches:

  • two large pouches at chest height, closed with a zipper
  • two pouches at shoulder height, closed with a zipper
  • one internal pouch, closed with a zipper

Two-way YKK zipper, velcro panel on the left shoulder

The main two-way zipper was made by the Japanese company YKK. It is covered with a velcro-fastened windproof strip, topped with a chin guard. There is a velcro panel on the left shoulder for attaching any patches or emblems, for example a national flag, unit insignia or so-called Morale Patches.

Deep hood, adjustable cuffs, compression bag

The adjustable, deep hood with drawstrings is spacious enough to allow a helmet to be worn underneath. The cuffs are adjustable with a velcro-fastened tab, which allows the sleeves to be fitted to the wrist. The waist drawstring makes it easier to adjust the jacket to the body shape. A compression bag is included in the set.

MultiCam camouflage

MultiCam is a modern camouflage pattern developed in 2002 by the American company Crye Precision in cooperation with the United States Army Soldier Systems Center (Natick Labs) as part of the Objective Force Warrior program. Its purpose was to create a universal camouflage pattern effective in varied terrain and changing environmental conditions.

The MultiCam pattern consists of seven colours that create gradient transitions between shades of green, brown and beige. Thanks to this, it dynamically adapts to the background, taking on shades of green in forest terrain or browns and beiges in desert areas - in the environment of Central and Eastern Europe it works particularly well in autumn and among dry vegetation. MultiCam has gained recognition worldwide and is used by numerous armed forces and special units. In 2010, the camouflage was officially adopted by the United States Army as a camouflage pattern for soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, replacing the earlier Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP). The pattern is also available to civilian users, making it a popular choice among military and airsoft enthusiasts.

Application and activity examples

Survival and bushcraft: Thanks to effective protection against moisture and wind, the jacket is ideal for bivouacs and nights in the field. Additional ventilation makes it easier to use comfortably during exertion.

Trekking: It is ideal for long hikes, providing lightness and effective protection against rain and wind. The deep hood and high collar increase comfort in difficult weather conditions.

Gore-Tex Membrane

Gore-Tex is a thin membrane made of polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), which features a microporous structure. Its structure makes it highly water- and wind-resistant, as well as breathable. The membrane's pores are 700 times larger than a molecule of water vapor, which allows it to efficiently wick moisture to the outside. Gore-Tex is widely used in the production of outdoor clothing and footwear.

It is water-resistant, solid, and comfortable to use. The ventilation system and pocket placement are very well thought out. The PRG 2.0 jacket fully serves its purpose, there are no drawbacks. The price is a bit high, but you have to pay for Goretex.

For me, it's world-class. I hesitated to buy it because it costs a lot, but after testing it myself in Lower Silesia during rains, I'm convinced it was a good investment.
