Casstrom No.10 SFK Green Micarta Sleipner Kydex Fixed Blade Knife

A knife with a Full-Tang construction, representing the first project of the Swedish brand Casstrom and at the same time one of the most recognizable bushcraft models from this manufacturer. Equipped with a Drop-Point blade profile with a length of 103 mm, made from wear-resistant Sleipner tool steel and handle scales made of Micarta composite.

The model was designed for demanding outdoor tasks – from precise wood processing to heavier survival and camp work. The materials used and the full-length tang running through the handle ensure high durability. The No.10 SFK knife was refined over the years until it reached its final form, which gained recognition among outdoor enthusiasts looking for a reliable field tool.  The set includes a sheath made of durable Kydex.

hardened Sleipner tool steel

The knife is crafted from a single piece of Sleipner tool steel developed by the Swedish steel mill Uddeholm and hardened to a hardness of 59–61 HRC. The material combines above-average wear resistance with high resistance to cracking and chipping, which is a difficult-to-achieve yet highly desirable combination for models designed for heavy-duty use. The steel used is significantly less susceptible to corrosion than typical low-alloy tool steels.

Drop-point blade, Scandinavian grind, satin finish

This model features a Drop-Point blade with a smooth cutting edge and a length of 103 mm. The blade is finished with a Scandi grind, which is particularly valued in bushcraft knives. This type of geometry works well when planing or splitting wood and preparing firewood.

The blade’s proper balance translates to better control over the knife. The weight is distributed evenly between the blade and the handle, ensuring greater cutting precision and reducing hand fatigue during prolonged use. The blade has been finished with a satin finish.

Micarta composite handle scales, lanyard hole

The handle consists of ergonomically shaped scales screwed onto the tang, made of durable green Micarta composite. This material is highly resistant to mechanical damage, abrasion, moisture, and varying weather conditions, making it ideal for intensive field use.

The slightly textured surface of the scales ensures a secure grip and good control over the knife, increasing safety and comfort of use. At the end of the handle, there is a hole for threading a lanyard or safety cord, which makes it easier to carry the knife and reduces the risk of accidentally losing it.

Kydex sheath included

The set includes a rigid sheath with a wide belt loop, made of lightweight yet durable black Kydex, which allows for comfortable and secure carrying of the knife on a belt. The material is highly resistant to mechanical damage, moisture, and changing weather conditions, making it well-suited for field use.

The sheath is equipped with numerous mounting holes, whose strategic placement allows for the use of additional mounting systems, including the popular Tek-Lok adapter. The sheath design ensures a secure hold on the knife and quick, convenient access to the tool. The smooth surface of the Kydex is easy to keep clean and requires no complicated maintenance.

Sleipner feature
Sleipner
Sleipner is a modern Cr-Mo-V tool steel developed by the Swedish steel mill Uddeholm as an improved version of D2 steel. Its 0.9% carbon content ensures high hardness, while 7.8% chromium improves wear resistance and provides moderate corrosion protection. The steel also contains 2.5% molybdenum, 0.5% vanadium, 0.9% silicon, and 0.5% manganese, which increase structural stability, fracture resistance, hardenability, and deformation resistance. After hardening, Sleipner achieves a hardness of 60-64 HRC, while maintaining excellent resistance to chipping, high impact strength, and long-lasting edge sharpness. This steel is a popular choice in the manufacture of hunting, survival, tactical, and folding knives, where high strength and long-lasting sharpness retention are required.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.
