A compact telescope designed for easy transport, ideal not only for home viewing but also for use during outdoor expeditions. User-friendly operation allows for both basic and advanced celestial observations.
The Celestron SE series features short catadioptric optical tubes paired with lightweight, single-arm azimuth mounts, all equipped with the GoTo system. The inclusion of this system is a notable advantage, enabling the automatic location of celestial objects—a crucial asset when targeting less conspicuous points in the sky. The RedDot finder ensures straightforward targeting of prominent sky objects.
Featuring a Schmidt-Cassegrain system optical tube with a 150 mm aperture and a 1500 mm focal length. The corrector plate is finished with the StarBright XLT anti-reflective coating to reduce light loss. Compared to the 4SE and 5SE, the employed azimuth mount is redesigned—eliminating the equatorial wedge and increasing both the head size and its weight. Power is supplied by either 8 AA batteries housed in the mount or an external 12 V power source.
Equipped with the NexStar controller featuring a database of 38,181 objects and offering 9 selectable slew speeds. Manual alignment to as many as three reference points is necessary for system calibration, supporting the search for both database catalogued and user-defined objects. Computer connectivity is available for remote control via mainstream astronomy software, though an RS232-USB converter is required.
A premium Plossl eyepiece offers a 25 mm focal length and a 50-degree field of vision. The T-Adapter SCT enables camera attachment. Optional accessories include the Star Sense automatic alignment system, the Celestron SkySync GPS module, and with the SkyQ Link module, wireless control via WiFi is possible.
