My next purchase from MILITARIA PL was the Damascus Viking sword and overall I am satisfied with the purchase; the craftsmanship is precise, it passed plastic bottle cutting tests perfectly; balance is ok, price is acceptable
Cold Steel Damascus Viking Sword
A keen, double-edged one-handed sword modeled after archaeological discoveries from Scandinavia, originating from the 10th–11th centuries during the renowned “Viking Age.” Weapon characteristics align with type Z as classified by Jan Petersen and type VI according to Wheeler’s typology. Early medieval swords embody the progression from the spatha, a cutting weapon developed in the era of Roman influence and the late Iron Age. Robust blade construction and an ergonomically designed hilt make the sword suitable for cutting practice. Special attention is warranted by the decorative spacers incorporated in the cross guard, grip, and pommel, as well as the lavishly ornamented scabbard fittings.
Double-edged, sharp blade made of pattern-welded Damascus
Forged with edges honed on both sides, the 762 mm long and 4 mm thick blade is crafted from pattern-welded Damascus steel, utilizing two varieties of carbon steel: soft and hard. Blades of this construction offer exceptional impact resistance and edge retention, enhancing the practical performance of the weapon. An acid etching finish brings out the distinctive Damascus pattern on the blade’s surface. Final refinement includes thorough polishing and precision sharpening. Running along the centerline, a double-sided fuller boosts blade durability while reducing overall weight.
Rosewood grip, short cross guard, steel pommel, decorative inserts
The handle measures 178 mm in length and features a tapered rosewood grip. Serving as a safeguard against the hand slipping onto the blade, the weapon boasts a short, saddle-shaped cross guard reminiscent of early medieval sword designs. Completing the ensemble is a steel three-part pommel, categorized as type Z based on Petersen's classification, providing balance to the blade. Decorative steel and brass inlays accent all three components of the handle. Additionally, a twisted wire chain is expertly soldered between the segments of the pommel.
Wooden scabbard covered in leather with a set of decorative fittings
Included is a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard, featuring a complete set of sword fittings crafted from brass. The upper fitting, chape, and band are embellished with geometric designs.
Warning
Featuring a sharp blade, the sword is not intended for sparring or combat training purposes!

A lot can be said about this sword, but the most important thing is that the photos don't do justice to how great it looks in real life. Truly amazing work, the sword is very sharp and I recommend it to all weapon collectors. Of course, there will always be some tiny imperfections, but they fade in comparison to the whole, so there's nothing to worry about ;) Best regards
