The hatchet fulfilled its purpose, although it is expensive. Excellent workmanship, I recommend it.
The Cold Steel Diamond Spontoon Hawk is crafted in the tradition of American tomahawks designed for combat situations. Featuring a head with a distinct diamond profile and dual cutting edges that meet in a sharp point, the tool delivers outstanding penetration, making it highly effective for piercing tasks. Historically, some tomahawks included a bowl integrated into the head and a hollow shaft, enabling the tool to double as a pipe. The Diamond Spontoon Hawk incorporates a pipe bowl imitation, serving as a functional hammer.
Forged from 1055 carbon steel, the head undergoes a specialized heat treatment process to achieve superior impact resistance while still providing reliable edge retention.
The handle, onto which the head is secured, is constructed from resilient hickory wood.

A big plus is definitely the change to a matte finish, as opposed to the previously glossy black paint. Quite handy, although I think CS still makes their tomahawks too heavy. But the grinder will get to work and it should be fine ;]
