Cold Steel Drop Forged Bowie Knife 52100 Black

Rugged, high-performance survival knife crafted from a single piece of forged 52100 steel. The handle features a material that mimics the appearance of deer antler. Engineered for strength and resilience, it excels in demanding wilderness scenarios as a reliable tool for survival and bushcraft activities.

52100 high-carbon steel

Forged from high-carbon 52100 steel, the blade delivers outstanding resistance to mechanical wear and maintains its edge sharpness for extended periods.

full flat grind, black protective coating

The Clip-Point style blade boasts a length of 241 mm and a thickness of 5 mm. A full flat grind enhances the cutting performance, ensuring superior slicing capabilities. The combination of this grind and the specific blade geometry results in outstanding tip penetration. For added durability, the entire knife is finished with a black protective coating that safeguards the steel against corrosion.

synthetic scales, double-sided cross guard

Ergonomically contoured handle scales are crafted from plastic that replicates the appearance of deer antler. A double-sided cross guard ensures a secure grip by preventing the hand from slipping onto the blade during operation. A lanyard hole is integrated at the end of the handle for attaching a safety cord.

Secure-Ex sheath

A durable polymer Secure-Ex sheath is provided, designed for belt carry or easy attachment to your gear.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
52100 feature
52100
52100 is an American bearing steel with a carbon content of 0.98-1.1%, valued in cutlery for its strength, resistance to chipping, and ability to maintain sharpness. The chromium content (1.3-1.6%) improves abrasion resistance and aids the hardening process. It also contains manganese (0.25-0.45%) and silicon (0.15-0.35%), which increase the strength and elasticity of the steel. After proper hardening, the steel reaches a hardness of 62-64 HRC, making it an ideal material for the production of bushcraft, survival, and hunting knives. Although it is not stainless steel and requires proper maintenance and protective coatings, its cutting properties and wear resistance make it one of the best choices among traditional carbon steels.
