FGX (Nightshade) Series is a unique line of Cold Steel knives made using injection molding from durable Grivory plastic. This model is a faithful replica of the Cold Steel Steel Tiger knife.

Grivory blade

The blade, which is 101.6 mm long and 7.5 mm thick, is made of Grivory, a composite similar to the popular Zyteil, containing glass microfibers in a nylon matrix. It has a sharp tip and a protruding cutting edge, which can be further sharpened.

Kray-Ex elastomer handle

The handles of all FGX knives are made of textured Kray-Ex elastomer, which ensures a comfortable, secure grip. This design results in a lightweight knife that is resistant to weather conditions, non-conductive, and—once the steel ring/lanyard loop on the back of the handle is removed—completely non-magnetic.

    A very nice gadget and, as a curiosity, even sharp, so it's a bit of a shame that it doesn't come with even the thinnest sheath. It can be sharpened a little; the material is solid and it fits well in the hand.

    What was meant to be an innocent birthday gift became the spark for the whole collection. After taking it out of the packaging, you can, and even should, test it on the packaging itself. That’s where the first wow appears. The second comes when you assess the quality of the handle. I recommend checking it out as a curiosity; these FGX's really do the job.

    A piece of a knife. It sits well in the hand. The blade is quite thick. But it has a hollow grind, so there is a chance to cut something. The cutting properties are satisfactory. Lightweight. A bit of a pity that there is no sheath.

The knife is made of solid material that is very durable and, most importantly, very sharp. The edge can be resharpened. I think it would fulfill its task if needed. After removing the ring, it contains no metal parts. I recommend it.

    Cold Steel is a class of its own. The quality of workmanship is top-notch. The knife itself is light and I mainly use it for training. You have to watch out for the tip. When dropped from a meter onto the floor, it broke.
