Cold Steel German Long Sword

Precision-crafted, double-edged longsword inspired by antique designs from the 15th to 16th centuries. Classified as type XVIIIb in Ewart Oakeshott's typology—a renowned European expert in historical bladed weapons. Recognized as the bastard sword, the hallmark of this longsword is its hilt, which permits versatile fencing techniques for both two-handed and one-handed use. Favored by the legendary lansquenets depicted in historical accounts. The blade's impressive length and robust construction, combined with the sword’s manageable weight, make it ideal for dynamic practice in cutting and thrusting techniques.

Double-edged, sharp blade made of 1060 carbon steel

Featuring a double-edged, razor-sharp blade with a length of 902 mm and a thickness of 7 mm, the weapon is crafted from 1060 carbon steel, valued for its outstanding impact resistance. A prominent ridge running along the center of the blade (Diamond Blade Cross-Section) enhances its cutting performance and reinforces the structural rigidity of the entire sword. A sharp point defines the tip for precise thrusting. The blade’s surface is polished to a refined finish.

Leather-wrapped hilt, S-shaped cross guard, steel pommel

Featuring a hilt measuring 266 mm in length, the weapon is outfitted with a steel S-shaped cross guard to shield the user's hands and prevent slippage onto the blade. The handle is bound in brown leather with circumferential ridges, greatly improving its anti-slip performance. A steel decorative pommel is fitted at the end of the tang, functioning as a counterbalance to the blade. The extended hilt supports both one-handed and two-handed grip techniques.

Leather scabbard with suspension straps and steel chape

Supplied with a leather scabbard featuring a steel lower fitting (chape). The suspension setup includes two leather straps designed for mounting onto a sword belt, each fitted with brass buckles.

Warning!

Featuring a sharp blade, the sword is not intended for use in sparring or combat training!

1060
1060 is a medium-carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.55-0.65%, characterized by good cutting properties and abrasion resistance. Thanks to its carbon content, this steel achieves a hardness of 55-58 HRC after proper hardening, which ensures the durability of the cutting edge. 1060 is easy to machine, and its hardness makes it a popular choice for the production of knives, machetes, and tools designed for heavier work. Due to the lack of alloying additives, this steel is not corrosion resistant, which requires proper maintenance and care to protect against rust. 1060 steel is widely used in the production of work tools and knives of medium hardness.
