Cold Steel Kiridashi 4034SS Folding Knife

Kiridashi compact everyday carry (EDC) folding knife, designed in the style of traditional Japanese utility knives. The blade is made of 4034SS stainless steel. The black handle, made of Griv-Ex composite, ensures a secure grip.

4034SS stainless steel, Stonewash finish

The Sheepsfoot-profile blade is 63.5 mm long and 3 mm thick. It is made of 4034SS stainless steel, which is easy to sharpen, holds its edge well, and offers high corrosion resistance. The blade is finished using Stonewash technology, which gives it a matte finish and eliminates the risk of glare.

double-sided thumb stud, Tri-Ad Lock

The blade features a thumb stud accessible from both sides, allowing you to quickly open the knife with either your right or left hand. When open, the blade is locked by a reliable Tri-Ad Lock, which is an advanced version of the Back Lock. Unlike its predecessor, it engages much deeper, and under load, it rests against a pin that limits the blade’s opening, providing additional stability.

contoured handle made of Griv-Ex

The ergonomically contoured handle is made of Griv-Ex glass-nylon composite. The non-slip texture of the scales ensures a very secure hold, and a special finger notch allows for precise work with the tool. At the end of the handle, there is a hole for threading a leather cord or paracord. A spring-loaded clip on the handle ensures comfortable, everyday carry, allowing you to clip the knife to your belt or the edge of a pocket.

4034SS feature
4034SS
4034SS - an alternative designation for Krupp 4034 steel, also known as X46Cr13 or 1.4034, is a German martensitic stainless steel developed by ThyssenKrupp. The carbon content of 0.46% ensures moderate hardness, while chromium (13%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also has good hardenability and structural stability thanks to the addition of manganese (approx. 1%) and silicon (approx. 1%). After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 54-57 HRC, which ensures a durable but easy-to-resharpen edge. Thanks to its combination of corrosion resistance, easy maintenance, and good elasticity, 4034SS is a popular choice for the production of everyday carry (EDC) knives, hunting and kitchen knives, and tools.
Tri-Ad Lock feature
Tri-Ad Lock
Tri-Ad Lock is a lock developed by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko, considered one of the strongest systems in folding knives. Its key element is a stop pin, which takes the pressure from the blade and distributes it to the handle, protecting the lock from wear and overload. The mechanism is designed to self-adjust over time, which maintains the reliability of the lock even after prolonged use. In tests, it has proven resistant to loads of up to hundreds of pounds, confirming its durability.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
Griv-Ex feature
Griv-Ex
Griv-Ex is a durable glass-nylon composite reinforced with fiberglass used by Cold Steel, mainly for the production of knife handles, and in some models also for blade components. The material has a textured surface on the handles, which ensures a secure, non-slip grip, and its maintenance usually boils down to simple washing under running water. Griv-Ex is distinguished by its resistance to moisture, corrosion, mechanical damage, and extreme temperatures, and does not warp or crack under harsh conditions. When used in the construction of blades, it is additionally stabilized by UV rays and heat, which further increases its durability.

The knife is not bad, lightweight, but the 4034ss steel is far from the best, and the blade edge gets chipped easily.
