Cold Steel Mini Leatherneck Double Edge Knife 8Cr13MoV

A downsized edition of the Cold Steel Leatherneck knife, drawing inspiration from the legendary combat blades used by the US Marines. Built with a Full Tang construction for exceptional durability, the model is equipped for both tactical operations and survival scenarios. Featuring a Dagger-style blade crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, the knife offers a balance of corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. The blade’s edge employs a Flat Grind and is given a refined satined finish. Supplied with a Secure-Ex sheath, which includes multiple holes and eyelets to accommodate multi-position attachment to belts or gear.

stainless steel 8Cr13MoV

Constructed from stainless steel 8Cr13MoV, the blade offers ease of sharpening, impressive edge retention, and strong resistance to corrosion. Through heat treatment, the steel attains a hardness rating of approximately 56-58 HRC, ensuring reliable cutting ability and solid wear resistance.

Dagger profile blade

Featuring a blade crafted in a Dagger profile, the knife boasts a length of 88 mm and a thickness of 2.7 mm. Precision is assured by a smooth cutting edge created through a Flat Grind, while the satining finish imparts a distinctive, uniform linear pattern and minimizes glare on the blade’s surface.

Full Tang construction, handle with Kray-Ex, double-sided steel cross guard

Featuring a Full Tang design, the steel tang extends throughout the entire length of the handle for enhanced strength and reliability. The handle is equipped with a rugged, injection-molded Kray-Ex polymer grip. Its ergonomic contour and non-slip finish provide excellent knife control, even in wet or muddy conditions. A double-sided steel cross guard offers additional protection by minimizing the chance of hand slippage onto the blade. A lanyard hole at the handle’s end allows for attachment of a leather or paracord lanyard.

Secure-Ex sheath

Manufactured from a durable material resistant to environmental influences, the sheath features the Secure-Ex system. A fitted inlet ensures the knife is held securely in place, greatly reducing the risk of accidental release. Multiple holes and grommets provide versatile mounting options for attachment to a belt or other gear components.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
Kray-Ex feature
Kray-Ex
Kray-Ex is a synthetic polymer with a rubber-like structure used by Cold Steel to manufacture knife handles. It is characterized by high adhesion and anti-slip properties, ensuring a secure grip even in high humidity, low temperatures, and with dirty hands. The material is flexible and absorbs shocks well, which increases comfort of use. Kray-Ex is also resistant to cracking, abrasion, chemicals, and adverse weather conditions, making handles made of this material durable and virtually maintenance-free. Cold Steel uses it in tactical, survival, and utility knives.
8Cr13MoV (8Cr13) feature
8Cr13MoV (8Cr13)
8Cr13MoV (8Cr13) is a Chinese stainless steel equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel. It offers a good balance between corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention. The carbon content (approximately 0.8%) affects the hardness of the steel, while chromium (13%) provides very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. Additions of molybdenum (0.3%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (0.5%), and silicon (0.4%) improve abrasion resistance and the stability of the steel structure. 8Cr13MoV is often used in the production of knives, including by companies such as Spyderco and Benchmade, which manufacture in China. After proper heat treatment, 8Cr13MoV steel achieves a hardness of 56-58 HRC, which makes it a material with good cutting properties, easy to sharpen, and relatively resistant to wear.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.

Very nice knife, fairly well made. Works well as a handy blade. It's sharp and keeps its sharpness well, the sheath is also ok. The knife is worth recommending.

Nice knife. Depending on what kind of tasks. For everyday survival, rather not. For an adult, I would recommend something else. Additionally, I sharpened it myself.

I bought it on Black Week for 96zl, it's cool, but I wouldn't pay 120 for it.

Well factory-sharpened knife, not large in size so it doesn't take up much space, for example in a backpack. Comfortable handle and good price/quality ratio, definitely worth recommending and buying.

Sharpness out of the box is satisfactory, quality and weight are also great, very nice for small trips and for processing wood for fuel and more, I think it would do well in many tough situations.

It's a badass, more for a shelf and to look at than to use... But it looks great!
