Cold Steel Rondel Dagger

Designed after European daggers from the 14th century, this model features a total length of 419 mm. Crafted from 1065 carbon steel, renowned for its exceptional impact resistance, the blade is uniquely suited for larger implements. The handle is constructed from Malaysian Sal wood, providing both durability and a traditional appearance. Included with the dagger is a leather scabbard for secure carry and storage.

blued blade, 1065 carbon steel

The blued blade, featuring a triangular cross-section, measures 292 mm in length and 16 mm in thickness, and is equipped with concave fullers. Crafted from 1065 carbon steel, a material recognized for its impressive hardness and resistance to abrasion, the blade undergoes proper heat treatment to reach a hardness of 55-58 HRC, guaranteeing a robust and reliable cutting edge.

Malaysian Sal wood

Featuring a handle measuring 127 mm, crafted from Malaysian Sal wood, this piece delivers both durability and a classic look. A steel cross guard on the blade side effectively prevents the hand from sliding forward onto the blade. Copper pins embellish the handle, providing added strength and a striking detail. A round disc-shaped pommel functions as a counterweight for the blade, ensuring optimal balance. Wooden scales attached to the tang guarantee a secure, comfortable grip.

leather scabbard with fitting

1065 feature
1065
1065 is a medium-carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.6-0.7%, characterized by good hardness and abrasion resistance. After proper hardening, it achieves a hardness of 55-58 HRC, which ensures a durable and effective cutting edge. This steel is valued for its good hardenability and ease of sharpening, making it a popular choice for the production of knives, machetes, and tools designed for heavier work. Although it is not stainless steel, its ease of machining and resistance to mechanical stress make it widely used in various fields that require durability and wear resistance.
Black Oxide feature
Black Oxide
Black Oxide is a chemical conversion process in which a thin layer of magnetite (Fe3O4) is formed on the surface of steel and other ferrous metals. It gives a black, matte appearance, reduces reflectivity, and does not affect the dimensions of the components, so it can also be used in precision parts. The coating provides limited corrosion protection, so it is usually reinforced with oil or wax. Black Oxide is used in knives, firearms, and tools. The process requirements are specified in MIL-DTL-13924, which covers processing grades, color uniformity, and corrosion resistance tests, and is the basic standard for military and technical applications.
