Cold Steel Ti-Lite 4" AUS-8A Folding Knife

Everyday carry (EDC) and tactical operations are enhanced by this folding knife, which incorporates a Spear-Point blade crafted from AUS-8A stainless steel—a material valued for its high durability, resistance to wear, and excellent protection against corrosion. Outfitted with a Leaf Spring Lock and sturdy Zy-Ex material scales in a black finish, the handle provides secure grip and reliability. The blade deploys swiftly using either the flipper or thumb stud for versatile, rapid access.

AUS-8A steel

Forged from AUS-8A stainless steel, the blade offers impressive corrosion resistance, straightforward sharpening, and an excellent combination of strength and edge retention. Under proper heat treatment, reliability in everyday situations is ensured.

blade with a Spear-Point profile

Equipped with a Spear-Point profile, the blade measures 101 mm in length and 3 mm in thickness. A plain cutting edge is utilized, and the blade's design delivers excellent piercing performance while preserving substantial durability.

Zy-Ex material scales, steel clip

Handle scales crafted from Zy-Ex material, a fiberglass-reinforced nylon, deliver exceptional durability. The open-frame construction along with a textured, non-slip surface ensures a secure and confident hold in demanding conditions. For everyday carry convenience, a springy, steel clip in the tip-up position enables easy attachment to a belt or the edge of a pocket.

Spring Leaf Lock, thumb stud, flippers

When opened, the blade is secured by the Spring Leaf Lock system, which enhances the traditional Liner Lock mechanism. An added spring-loaded safety bar ensures the liner knife remains locked in place, preventing accidental closure even under heavy impact. Featuring a thumb-operated stud, the blade allows fast one-handed deployment. The inclusion of a serrated flipper also permits the blade to be opened seamlessly during the draw from a pocket. Upon opening, the flippers become a small double-sided cross guard, offering protection against the hand slipping onto the blade.

AUS-8A feature
AUS-8A
AUS-8A is a Japanese stainless steel, equivalent to 440B steel, characterized by a good balance between corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention. The carbon content (0.7-0.75%) affects the hardness of the steel, while chromium (13-14.5%) provides very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. Vanadium additives (up to 0.26%) improve the homogeneity of the steel's crystal structure and increase the blade's resistance to abrasion. The steel also contains molybdenum (0.1-0.3%), manganese (0.5%), silicon (0.4-1%), and nickel (0.49%). After proper heat treatment, AUS-8 steel achieves a hardness of 58-60 HRC, making it a solid material with good cutting properties and durability. The steel is widely used in mid-range knives, mainly produced in Japan and Taiwan, such as the popular Ontario RAT 1.
Spring Leaf Lock feature
Spring Leaf Lock
Spring Leaf Lock is a folding knife lock by Cold Steel, combining a classic Liner Lock with an additional spring bar. When the blade is opened, the spring secures the liner, preventing accidental folding even during strong shocks. To close the knife, first move the safety guard aside and then release the lock. This mechanism increases safety and reliability during use.
Zy-Ex feature
Zy-Ex
Zy-Ex is a composite material developed by Cold Steel, based on glass fiber reinforced polyamide. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and low water absorption, allowing it to retain its properties even under intensive use in harsh conditions. The material is lightweight yet very rigid, allowing for the construction of a solid handle without excessively increasing the weight of the knife. The surface of Zy-Ex is designed to imitate the structure of natural wood, which gives it an attractive appearance and improves grip. Thanks to the combination of these features, Zy-Ex is used in tactical, outdoor, and EDC knives.

Very good knife, sharp, nice, and strong. Unfortunately, even though it did not come into contact with water, it rusted slightly, which is a shame :/. Still, I recommend it!
