Cold Steel Two Handed Great Sword

Two-handed, double-edged sword inspired by artifacts from the mid-15th to late 16th century. Known in archaeological and historical circles as the "Zweihänder", the balance and overall weight of the sword make it ideal for rigorous cutting practice.

Double-edged blade made of 1060 steel, parierhaken, leather-covered ricasso

Forged from 1060 spring steel, the double-edged blade features a length of 1013 mm and a thickness of 5.5 mm, delivering exceptional impact resistance. A ridge (Diamond Blade Cross-Section) extends along the blade’s center, providing enhanced geometry for cutting and reinforcing the sword's structural integrity. The blade terminates in a finely sharpened tip, and its surface is meticulously polished. Positioned about one quarter down the blade, an arched guard functions to deflect incoming blows and cuts. Known in historical texts as the "Parierhaken", this guard adds both protection and authenticity. Located above the cross guard, a leather-wrapped ricasso (blunt threshold) enables advanced fencing maneuvers with the half-sword technique.

Featuring a 390 mm long handle, this model boasts a steel cross guard angled toward the blade’s point, effectively shielding the fencer’s hands and preventing accidental slippage onto the blade. Two symmetrical side rings on the guard provide extra protection. The grip is wrapped in black leather with raised circumferential elements, significantly boosting its anti-slip performance. A steel, pear-shaped pommel at the tang’s end functions as a counterbalance to the blade.

    The sword looks nice, the construction is solid but unfortunately the sharpening is terrible: on one side some parts of the blade are completely blunt, some are jagged. It's not a disaster because you can fix it yourself. Considering the size, the price is not excessive, but it would be good to have at least some kind of blade cover in the set. Despite the flaws, it is still a functional two-handed sword.
