Cold Steel Verdict Tanto 4116SS Folding Knife - Black

Folding knife engineered for everyday carry (EDC) and tactical use. Features a Tanto-style blade crafted from 4116SS stainless steel, renowned for its outstanding resistance to corrosion. The plain edge blade receives its finish through the Stonewash technique. The handle, colored black, is constructed from G10 laminate and offers a textured, non-slip grip. Deployment is facilitated by a double-sided thumb stud, while a Tri-Ad Lock mechanism provides secure operation.

4116SS Stainless Steel

Forged from robust 4116SS stainless steel, the blade delivers exceptional edge retention, ease of sharpening, and superior resistance to corrosion. Once hardened, the blade achieves a hardness rating of 55-57 HRC.

tanto blade with stonewash finish

Featuring a Tanto profile blade, the knife offers a 79 mm length and 3 mm thickness. A smooth cutting edge with a flat grind delivers excellent slicing performance. The geometry of the blade provides high cutting efficiency and the right balance of strength for demanding tasks. A rugged Stonewash finish masks scratches acquired during heavy use, maintaining a reliable appearance in the field.

non-slip G10 laminate handle, steel clip

The handle, crafted with an ergonomic profile, is constructed entirely from robust glass-epoxy laminate G10 consisting of two substantial scales fastened with screws and stabilized by a spine spacer. The textured G10 pattern significantly improves grip, and in combination with the contoured design, guarantees a firm and comfortable grasp. A springy clip mounted on the handle offers practical convenience for daily carry, enabling secure attachment to a belt or the edge of a pocket. Adjustable for both left and right-handed users, the clip is fully reversible. At the handle’s end, a hole is provided for threading a lanyard or safety cord.

Tri-Ad Lock, double-sided thumb stud

Featuring a Tri-Ad Lock system, renowned as one of the toughest locking mechanisms in folding knives, the knife offers superior strength. The lock functions with a stop pin that absorbs blade pressure, dispersing force across the handle for enhanced durability and resistance to wear. Automatic adaptation of the mechanism over time preserves the reliability of the lock. A dual-sided thumb stud on the blade enables swift, one-handed deployment using your thumb.

4116SS feature
4116SS
4116SS steel is the commercial name for high-quality 1.4116 stainless steel from the German DIN group, widely used in kitchen knives and medical tools. The carbon content (0.45-0.55%) ensures good hardness and edge durability, while chromium (14-15%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.6%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), and a small amount of nickel (up to 1%). It achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for knives with good cutting properties, easy maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Tri-Ad Lock feature
Tri-Ad Lock
Tri-Ad Lock is a lock developed by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko, considered one of the strongest systems in folding knives. Its key element is a stop pin, which takes the pressure from the blade and distributes it to the handle, protecting the lock from wear and overload. The mechanism is designed to self-adjust over time, which maintains the reliability of the lock even after prolonged use. In tests, it has proven resistant to loads of up to hundreds of pounds, confirming its durability.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
