CRKT Ignitor Folding Knife

Folding EDC knife with an assisted opening mechanism, designed by American knifemaker Ken Steigerwalt. The blade with a Drop-Point profile is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, and the surface is finished with satin, giving a semi-matte effect. The knife handle is made of durable G10 laminate.

8Cr13MoV stainless steel

The blade is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, characterized by ease of sharpening and very good corrosion resistance. The surface of the blade is finished using a satin method, giving it a semi-matte effect.

blade with Drop-Point profile, hollow grind

The Drop-Point blade is 88 mm long and 2.7 mm thick. The edge is executed with a hollow grind, which ensures very good cutting properties and allows for precise work. The Ignitor model is equipped with an Assisted Opening mechanism that allows for quick one-handed blade deployment. The deployment of the blade is facilitated by a flipper, which when opened, serves as a small cross guard to protect the hand from slipping onto the blade. The blade opening process is enhanced by placing an IKBS ball bearing on the main axis of the knife.

two-tone G10 laminate handle

The knife features an ergonomically shaped handle in Blue/Black colors made of textured G10 laminate - durable and resistant to impacts, as well as most chemical factors and extreme temperatures. A springy clip allows for convenient carrying of the knife by attaching it to a belt or pocket edge.

Liner Lock mechanism

In the open position, the blade is locked with a Liner Lock mechanism, which protects against accidental folding of the knife during work. The lock allows for convenient one-handed operation.

CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool) is an American brand of knives and tools, founded in 1994 by Paul Gillespie and Rod Bremer, former employees of Kershaw Knives. It gained worldwide fame with its K.I.S.S. model, presented at the SHOT Show in 1997 - it sold out instantly and tripled the company's production capacity. CRKT has earned a reputation as a brand that focuses on innovation, as evidenced by its proprietary Deadbolt, Field Strip, and Kinematic systems, as well as its patented Veff-Serrations. The company is also known for its collaboration with renowned knifemakers such as Kit Carson, Ken Onion, and Liong Mah, resulting in knives with unique character and functionality. Among the most recognizable models are the M16, Minimalist, and Pilar, which have become icons in the world of EDC and tactical knives. Since its inception, CRKT has consistently promoted the motto “Confidence in Hand,” emphasizing that their knives are designed to provide the user not only with a tool, but above all with confidence in any situation.

8Cr13MoV (8Cr13) feature
8Cr13MoV (8Cr13)
8Cr13MoV (8Cr13) is a Chinese stainless steel equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel. It offers a good balance between corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention. The carbon content (approximately 0.8%) affects the hardness of the steel, while chromium (13%) provides very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. Additions of molybdenum (0.3%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (0.5%), and silicon (0.4%) improve abrasion resistance and the stability of the steel structure. 8Cr13MoV is often used in the production of knives, including by companies such as Spyderco and Benchmade, which manufacture in China. After proper heat treatment, 8Cr13MoV steel achieves a hardness of 56-58 HRC, which makes it a material with good cutting properties, easy to sharpen, and relatively resistant to wear.
IKBS - Ikoma Korth Bearing System feature
IKBS - Ikoma Korth Bearing System
IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) is a ball bearing system developed by Flavio Ikoma and Rick Lal (Korth Knives), initially for butterfly knives. Instead of traditional rings and cages, it uses balls embedded in grooves around the pivot axis, which ensures smooth and light blade movement while maintaining stability. Thanks to its compact design, it can be used in various folding knives, and the balls are made of stainless steel or ceramic. The blade tension is adjusted with a pivot screw, and the biggest advantage of the system remains the smoothness of opening, which is appreciated by many manufacturers.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
